Blasphemy Against The Prophet: Pakistan Christians Rally Over Lahore Attacks

Protests in Karachi after mobs ransack and torch homes in Christian area of Lahore over alleged insult against prophet, Aljazeera reports.

Dozens of Pakistani Christians have protested in Karachi, hours after mobs ransacked a Christian neighbourhood in Lahore and torched dozens of homes. Mobs on Saturday caused widespread damage in the eastern Pakistani city after hearing reports that a Christian man had committed blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad, according to a police officer.

Pakistan is a lawless country and a a hot bed of terrorism and secratarian violence. Despite being created in the name of Islam it does not live up to the religon nor its teachings. Here again the rule of the mob. It is sad that a country of great potential, endowed with huge mineral and natural resources is being ruined by its own people.

It demonstrates the failure of succesive goverments to act against extremist elements of the clergy and populace. Now the cancer has spread and to eradicate it will require a massive effort. However better late than never if the govt acts to arrest the ring leaders and hand out severe deterrent punishments.

Hey, Pakistan is Mahinda Rajapassa’s role model – so get with the plan of attacking minorities and destroying their art and culture in the land of the Balu Sena led by Gota the white van Goon..

But there is a curious paradox here – in Pakistan you see the remains of the Buddhist Gandhara Civilization which has been destroyed by islamic faundamentalists just as the Buddhas of Bamiyan were destroyed in Afghanistan.
IN both Pakistan and Lanka today, the end game is DIVIDE, DISTRACT AND RULE – the entrenching and rule a military dictatorship legitimized by fundamentalist majority religion – Buddhism and Islam which are actually curious local aberrations of great world religions.. attacking minorities

The Christians in Pakistan are a very law abiding and peaceful citizens. What exactly is blasphemy? Has it been defined? It is unfortunate that these Christians have been caught up for ever within this dangerous and absolutely politically corrupt enclave of Muslim extremism like the Muslims in India caught up within an an environment of hindu fanaticism. It is very unfortunate.

Blasphemy is an irreverent or impious act, attitude, or utterance in public, with regard to something considered inviolable or sacrosanct, connected to God or a Prophet. In simple words, saying untrue things about sacred matters.

I agree with you. I met a Pakistani Christian family once who were chased out of Uganda by Idi Amin ( he wanted Indians out) and because their ancestors were from Pakistan, they returned to Lahore. They lived in fear, having left one nightmare to experience another.

The social structures, especially in the hinterlands don’t allow Muslims to be educated. Literacy is very low among men and non existent among women. They are also tied down to the Zameendhar system, which is literally enslavement of the poor.

The Zamins benefit politically because they can deliver block votes and like to keep people enslaved. The peasants learn only the distorted teachings of madrasas because the teachers of madrasas themselves are not qualified and exposed to the outer world.

So traditions such as honour killings happen.

The sad fact is that instead of fighting the Taliban if the Americans spent on education we might find a more liberal and accommodating people there!

Also please don’t judge these countries based on your own experience in Sri Lanka, where thank god we have free access to education and people can think for themselves. They are people who think the Polio vaccine is a conspiracy by the Americans to sterilize them!

I was feeling sorry for the Moslems in Sri lanka having to bear the brunt of the BBS attacks. After reading this article I think Moslems are an intolerant race and get what they deserve.

You should read the Quran (a collection of words that Muhammad attributed to Allah), the Hadith (a collection of narrations of the life and deeds of Muhammad), the Sira (his recorded biography), the Sunnah (Muhammad’s way of life, on which Islamic law (Sharia) is based) to understand a real Muslim.

Quran (5:51) – “O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.”

In Hadith, Muslim (1:417) – Taken to mean that one’s own relatives should not be taken as friends if they are not Muslim.

Islamic TV preacher Sheikh Muhammad Hassan says that a Muslim is not even permitted to smile at a non-Muslim. Now you know who a true Muslim is.

The political instability in Pakistan since the day it was founded has left the country in a state of anarchy now and as law and order does not prevail there are groups who use the situation to cause problems to others and some unruly elements are targeting the Christians. It is not an issue of Muslims attacking Christians but a mob attacking the Christians. It is the Govt. of Pakistan that has to be blamed if the mob is not controlled. In Sri Lanka too it is the mob rule by the BBS and the Asgiriya Maha Nayake too has warned them to stop their mob rule. It is the duty of the Sri Lanka Govt.,as it is the duty of the Pakistan Govt., to stop the BBS attacking the Muslims. We Muslims do not blame all the Buddhists for the mob rule of the BBS.

Luckily ALL Sinhala Buddhist are not judged by what the BBS does, like attacking Mosques, and protesting Muslim businesses. We should also be thankful that ALL Sinhalese Buddhist were not judged by the murdering goons who went around the country in 1983 murdering innocent Tamils. Much as the Islamaphobes here try to paint an entire religion for what some thugs do in another country – the Sri Lankan Muslims are not responsible for those crimes, and should NOT be judged by what others do. The Sri Lankan Muslims are not connected to others and are totally different. By the same token, it is a relief that ALL Sri Lankans are not judged by what it’s government does.

      “get what they deserve” –

Almost word for word an echo of what some of my friends (who even safeguarded Tamil people in their homes) said in the aftermath of July 1983. I found that attitude so hard to cope with that, that sad to say, a number of those friendships just fell by the wayside. Those people’s immediate instinct had been absolutely on the ball, so generous, even at risk to themselves, but later other feelings emerged and I found it difficult to cope with. One such friend lived in a pleasant Dehiwela seaside lane. She and her young daughter hid her neighbours from armed marauding mobs. Tiny as she was, she stood at her front door and denied the presence of any Tamil people in her home. I will always bless her for that. The M’s (for that is how their surname began) fled the area for months. Their house lay empty, shattered, burnt. After a while my dear friend began to complain: If they are not coming back to it why dont they sell it, some good Sinhala family might like to buy it!
Maybe if she hadnt specified (prob quite accidentally) ‘Sinhala’ I would just have said to her: They need time to ‘recover’ from what they have gone through, and then only will they be able to decide what they are going to do. They have no obligation to sell just because someone may be eyeing it!
But I was so stunned – THIS from someone who had even risked her own life and household! – that I couldnt bring myself to meet her for quite a while. At least though, that friendship survived.

@ Anil. You think, “Moslems are an intolerant race and get what they deserve”. But you have always been sympathetic to Muslims in SL.

What caused you to come to this opinion is what some Muslims in Pakistan did to some Christians whom they allege blasphemed their prophet.

You are fooling no one. You are (and have always been) a racist and are lying!

You mean like the cruelty shown by Israel when it deviously injected Ethiopian Jews, so that they will not produce? Seems you are familiar with that inhumane procedure, and endorse such vile practices.

      Quote:
Israel has admitted for the first time that it has been giving Ethiopian Jewish immigrants birth-control injections, often without their knowledge or consent.

The government had previously denied the practice but the Israeli Health Ministry’s director-general has now ordered gynaecologists to stop administering the drugs. According a report in Haaretz, suspicions were first raised by an investigative journalist, Gal Gabbay, who interviewed more than 30 women from Ethiopia in an attempt to discover why birth rates in the community had fallen dramatically.

Keep your suggestions in Tel Aviv and keep out of our affairs.

My take on this is you cannot compare the two as there is a major difference between what has happened in Pakistan and what is brewing in Sri Lanka viz-a-viz Muslim factor. In Muslim majority Pakistan, there was provocation by a minority Christian who insulted the Prophett of Islam, (which amounts to a minority group insulting the religion of the majority group in that country – asking for trouble), whilst in Sri Lanka the Muslims being a minority group, stayed calm, even after being provoked by the majority Buddhist group BBS, who carrying placards of the pig with the the words Allah drawn across it, and burnt in public view. You need to understand that Muslims are greatly protective of their religion and the anger is still simmering under their skin for what was done, and will only pray to Allah to give those provocators the punishment they deserve, or grant them Hidayath to regret their actions and come to accept Islam as their religion of choice. Pls understand the ground situation before jumping to conclusions. Personally, I condemn what happened in Pakistan, but we need to understand that the writ of law and government is not effectively administered throughout this lawless state, and thus mob justice is to be expected.

“If Sri Lanka does not keep its Muslim population at a reduced level, then this is the end result.”

Shall we build a Auschwitz? Or may be a pogrom like ’83?

The truth is that there are far too many people meddling in Pakistan from the USA, Iran and India because of geopolitical reasons.

USA and India are worried about a stable Pakistan that shares a cordial relationship with China. To the West China and the US are competing for the enormous mineral resources.

Iran doesn’t want American influence on its borders and will destabilize both Afghanistan and Pakistan.

India wants to stir the pot so that its border issues don’t get the attention of the people of Pakistan.

The powerful Pakistani military thrives on conflict and if they don’t have one they create one; remember Cargill, so that they can keep their military business on track.

Majority of Pakistanis are peace loving and are helpless and are caught up in the endless cycle of violence.

This despicable violence must and is contemptible and should be condemned

Nabil, what you say makes a lot of sense. But when you are an Israeli agent and trained to say negative things about Muslims in Sri Lanka in these blogs, you will simply ignore the truth and keep the instigation going.
Unfortunately the Sri Lankan websites are now filled with islamaphobes that are trained to incite violence and hatred. You have got to feel sorry for those poor Palestinians who feel the wrath of these people while they are robbed of their lands.

Why don’t you start by condemning the stoning to death in Saudi Arabia. Don’t you think that such a primitive punishment so close to Islam’s holiest shrine is offensive? Or do you actually believe stoning to death is okay.

      • 0

Will you condemn the actions of BBS in return? I have and will always defend what is right and condemn what is wrong.

In my book insulting another human being, let alone another religion falls withing the category of a big “NO”. I am also against any form of violence.

The practice of stoning began among the Greeks, and Jews well before the advent of Islam and was a practice in medieval times! So please don’t blame Islam for what is in your head.

Islam does not prescribe stoning in the Qur’an and there is only evidence in Hadiths that there were stoning during the time of the prophet. Again scholars are not sure if stoning happened after the revelation of the Qu’ran. I would like some learned person to comment on this.

However though some Muslim countries have it in their statutes, stoning has always been commuted to lashes, just like capital punishment though is legal in Sri Lanka it hasn’t been carried out for a long time.

If it did happen, again I am not aware of it happening, it could be in remote villages where a jurisdiction of a proper government may not have reach.

Hope you have your answer Lester!

The practice of stoning began among the Greeks, and Jews well before the advent of Islam and was a practice in medieval times!

The difference between Islam and other religions is that other religions have evolved, but the Muslim mindset is still in the Medieval times. For example, what rights do females have in a Muslim nation?

You are not aware of criminals being stoned to death in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Africa? Perhaps you are also not aware of people being beheaded (another barbaric practice) in Saudi Arabia.

Muslims will slaughter themselves (look at Syria), given sufficient time and money. That is why Israel still exists; the rich Muslim nations have been bought with the oil money of infidels, so that there is not enough Muslim unity to fight Israel.

One should not discount the fact that most Muslims are very naive, and can be easily manipulated…a lot of what goes on is provocations by agents provocateurs manipulating the naive into doing things detrimental to themselves, but carefully planned in advance by outside forces needing to make Islam and Muslims look bad in order to further their own agendas.

There is no doubt that the Muslims have to be more civilised in this day and age. There were many during the time of Prophet Mohamed who did not agree with him and openly said so. For that matter for twelve years Prophet Mohamed found difficult to convert all the people, after he was pronounced as a Prophet. It was not considered as Blasphemus nor all those were killed. I believe this Blasphemus issue is taken too far by the Muslims today and should be left to God Almighty to punish, than some man or some stupid Mulla taking decisions to kill someone. Not only there are BBS amongst Buddhists but such characters are present among the Muslims as well.

    • 0

      Gamini,

What does it mean to be civilised? … to be able to freely swear at just anyone, as happens in the Western world? Tell parents, teachers, priests and other civilising agents to f*** off! No wonder certain western govts are considering bringing in police into the class rooms or arming the teachers themselves. A society that disrespects the respectable characters in the society breaks down, as is evident in most western countries.

The belief in the flawless nature of Prophet Muhammad is crucial for the survival of the Muslim societies. Protecting his honour is non-negotiable for muslims. Stop insulting their Prophet!

      • 0
        0

Lionel, it would have been better for you to be man enough rather than hide behind false names. However Civilised is to be cultured with good manners and not behave like vulgar idiots. It has no bearing, just because some in the Western Society swear as you suggest. If you can not understand what it is to be civilised, you will certainly not understand what is blasphemy and what is not. Truth is Universal and has no variables. Therefore to question any belief or myth is an individual’s inalienable right. If it was not, even Islam or Prophet Mohamed cease to exist, if the same yard stick was to apply then. What is there for the Muslims to protect the Honour of Prophet mohamed, if as suggested the Almighty God is more powewrful than any Human. Is this not itself in conflict with the belief? So how could man take God’s stance to punish another human for Blasphemy, because he himself is desecrating God by committing an act, murder most foul, deciding and acting for God himself, while he is just another human only.

        • 0
          0

          Gamini,

You said, “Civilised is to be cultured with good manners and not behave like vulgar idiots.” And i agree! Those committing blasphemy are those with no good manners and behaving like vulgar idiots

You said, “to question any belief or myth is an individual’s inalienable right”. I agree again. Muslims are for debate. Raise questions! But if you want to tongue-lash at Muslims, then you are vulgar!

When students insult teachers, class rooms become like lunatic asylums. When children insult parents, family become like an unruly pub. When you insult the Prophet, that is an attempt to destroy the whole muslim society!

          • 0
            0

            Gamini,

God does not maintain order in the society by His direct interference alone! He has devolved that responsibility to man. Man, as for God’s guidelines, must establish order. Deal with those who commit blasphemy and attempt to destroy societies!

            • 0
              0

Lionel, where has your God devolved power to man to direct order in society? Why is he unable to perform himself who is considered more powerful than man? Is it due to impotence or being non existant?

          • 0
            0

To question any belief you agree. When one does, it is Blasphemy for you. There is nothing vulgar in questioning. So first you have to understand yourself, before your type stand in for God. Further questioning is not insulting. Inability to provide coherent answers hiding behind a belief is insulting.

            • 0

              gamini,

Muslims welcome questions on their beliefs. They will happily answer. Islam could not survived for over 13 long centuries, if muslims weren’t able to answer sincere questions.

But instead of questions, insults are thrown at anything muslims value so much. Any people with self respect will always respond to insults. What do you do when someone insults your mother? Not sure about you, but i would tell them to f*** off!

            • 0
              0

Lionel, Muslims have been able to preserve Islam for the last 1300 years, through sheer force and compulsion. The Community force it on every Muslim family and the family force it on the young. There is no freedom for a Muslim to act outside, other than a few who have broken away living in non Muslim Countries. Although you say Muslims welcome questions on their beliefs, the truth is furthest from it.

The Brahmajala Sutta: for your understanding

The sutta starts with the Buddha travelling with his disciples between the cities of Rajagaha and Nalanda. At the same time, a Brahmin called Suppiya, with his young apprentice, Brahmadatta, were also travelling in the same direction, tailing the convoy of the sangha. Suppiya uttered some insulting words about the Buddha, his teachings, and his disciples. However, Brahmadatta praised and revered the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha. The two continued debating until they arrived at the King’s resting place in Ambalatthika.Hearing this conversation, some monks discussed the nature of conflicting students and teachers the next morning. They wondered how marvellous it was that the Buddha knew the various kinds of views to be found in people. The Buddha arrived and asked what they were discussing. As a monk finished telling him, the Buddha responded, “Monks, if anyone spoke words which insult me, the Dhamma, and the Sangha, don’t let this thing prompt you to hate, take revenge, and turn against them. If, because of this, you become angry or annoyed, then it will become an obstacle in your quest to liberate yourself, and cause you upset. However, if someone speaks insulting or false accusations about me, the Dhamma, and the Sangha, then you should state which is wrong and point out the mistake by explaining that because of this proof and that, then that is not true, or it is not like that, that kind of thing is not us, or occurring in us.””But if someone praises me, the Dhamma, or the Sangha; don’t let this thing make you feel proud, joyful, and happy. If you act like that, then it will become an obstacle in your efforts to achieve your own final liberation. If someone speaks like that, you should state which is right and show the fact by saying, ‘Based upon this and that fact, it is indeed so; that thing does indeed exist in us, or is true about us.’ Even only due to small matters, worthless, or even due to the Precepts (Śīla).”

Buddha 2500 years before has perfected humanity within his spheres. Why can’t we still understand and follow it?

              Say: “Musavada Veramani Sikkhapadam Samadiyami”.

All Muslims the world over when addressing Prophet Mohamed they revere and respect each time they mention the name followed by PBUH. Muslims are no different to the rest of society when it comes to committing Corruption, Robbery, Homosexuality, Rape, Child molestation, Murder, Cruelty, Selfishness, Greed, Hate, Jealousy so on and so forth. Is this not Blasphemy to God Allah or Prophet Mohamed or Islam itself? How many Muslims including Mullas who commit Homosexuality on innocent children and sexually molest women without getting caught? They are the first in the queue to stone someone to death when caught, just to cleanse themselves of their acts in the face of society. When the Muslims commit vilainy as anyone else would as humans, where are the Blasphemy Laws? The truth is everyone has their individual doubts, but none wants to admit for the fear of not of Prophet Mohamed, God Allah or Islam, but for the crude punishment of man itself. With all the strict Laws in Shariya, are the Muslim societies free of Crime and Violence? No! certainly not? Then where is this power of Prophet Mohamed or God Allah? The Muslims, although they boast of Purity, they are no better than the rest. That is why even among the others although it is said God Fearing, there are many who vitiate from this norm and parade as paragons of virtue, when they are really the biggest crooks on earth. The truth is all Religion found by man is on the way out. To live Decently, Honestly and mostly as Humans, one does not necessarily need to have a Religion. Religions have brought immense despair to man kind, more than the good originally intended. So it is any wonder that it is said this would be the last Pope to be elected?

          Gamini,

You have expressed your opinion. What are the questions?

So your logic goes as follows. The Arabs ‘enforced’ Islam upon the Turks. The Turks then ‘enforced’ it upon others such as those in Eastern Europe. Or the Persians on whom the Arabs ‘forced’ it would in turn force it upon Central Asian regions. It is absolute nonsense!

An ideology couldn’t have survived at the gun of a barrel. If that were the case, the French will still be in Algeria. And the Americans would not be still returning from Iraq in body bags.

What nonsense this man gamini is talking about?

Neither Muhammad nor his religion was strong during the twelve or thirteen years. So, during that time he even had to read some (satanic) verses that accept other Gods as interceptors to Allah so as to appease non believers or polytheists including his own tribe which he later retracted when got strong by assigning the said verses to Satan.

The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with non-believers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called ‘hypocrites’ and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.

Unlike the Old Testament verses of violence, the
Quran verses of violence are mostly open-ended, meaning that they are not restrained by the historical context of the surrounding text. They are part of the eternal, unchanging word of Allah, and just as relevant or subjective as anything else in the Quran.

Most of today’s Muslims exercise a personal choice to interpret their Quran’s call to violence. They justify their action by their own moral pre-conceptions. Apologists cater to their preferences with tenuous arguments that gloss over historical fact and generally do not stand up to scrutiny. Still, it is important to note that the problem is not bad people, but bad ideology.

Unfortunately, there are very few verses of tolerance and peace to abrogate or even balance out the many that call for nonbelievers to be fought and subdued until they either accept humiliation, convert to Islam, or are killed. Muhammad’s own martial legacy – and that of his companions – along with the remarkable stress on violence found in the Quran have produced a trail of blood and tears across world history.

And what guarantee is there that LTTE will not reemerge from the Tamils and continue with its mass murder? Perhaps, the solution is that we should cull them to the right size?

These are failed states that cannot come to terms with the modern world where we live amongst diverse races and religons. The quran itself gives guidance in Surah Al Hujarat 49:11-13

O ye who believe! Let not a folk deride a folk who may be better than they (are), not let women (deride) women who may be better than they are; neither defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. Bad is the name of lewdness after faith. And whoso turneth not in repentance, such are evil-doers.

O ye who believe! Shun much suspicion; for lo! some suspicion is a crime. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you love to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Ye abhor that (so abhor the other)! And keep your duty (to Allah). Lo! Allah is Relenting, Merciful.

O mankind! Lo! We have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. Lo! the noblest of you, in the sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. Lo! Allah is Knower, Aware.

It is unfortunate that some extremist and muslim countries continue to follow medevial laws and customs without really trying to understand what the quran and hadith say. In doing so they invite ill fame and disrespect to the religon. To my knowledge the blasphemy law is not supported anywhere in quran or hadith. Islam is a religon for all of mankind not so called muslims only. We also tend to react whenever some one says something although such abuse was present even in the time of the prophet sal.

“There is no doubt that the Muslims have to be more civilised in this day and age” says regular and savvy commentator Gamini. None will disagree with this. But how does one get about it and who will bell the cat of a culture that not only believes but wants others also to believe all these are the right things to do?

In Syria – one more collaborator of 9/11 now suffering the consequences, according to insiders within the US Defence establishment, their own little angelic children of 5-10 find their throats slit – purely because they belong to the different Alawite (Islamic, to boot nonetheless) For God’s sake these are little children who have nothing to do with the competition of armed conflict. And the two-legged animals who do this have the gaul of mentioning their Creator while committing this savagery. What is bizarre is they do in the belief “the doors of Paradise are opened to them” for the good deed???? This has happened in hundreds of instances in the Syrian cities of Allepo, Homs, Lattakia and many other areas. We saw this umpteen times in Iraq. What makes these brutes to commit such bestial carnage in the name of what goes as a religion? If we agree with many others who have commented on this the reason is 1,700 years of brain-washing to carry on regardless based on a culture that encourages hatred, revenge, the slitting of throats, the killing of men, women and children by stoning them to cruel death – we are called names. The change has to come from them.

Today, we learn the Saudi Arabian Govt has appointed a Committee to study if the punishment by cutting the neck of an accused (like that fate that befell our little girl) should be changed in line with the civilised standards of today’s enlightened world. Not that there aren’t any enlightened Muslims in the world who want all of these stone-age practises changed. The problem is if anyone opens his mouth his neck and that of his entire family goes in no time – as any educated Iranian outside that iron curtain will tell you. Does one need a Committee for such basic humane changes?

      Dear Senguttuvan,

What makes these brutes to commit such bestial carnage in the name of what goes as a religion?

They are just following the example of their Prophet. Rape, violence, murder of little children, taking of slaves – he was expert in all of these. Why, he had more than 7 wives, the youngest of whom was 9 (he was 33 when he married her).

        Lester,

You are projecting all the evils in your societies onto someone else whom you hate. This is such a sick state of mind.

Ask yourself: How many women are raped per minute in your western countries? How many schools kids have been shot to death for no reason every season? How many free people you enslaved (in Africa)?. How many innocent people you exterminated (in America, Australia, NZ etc)? How many peadophiles you have in your midst? and how many men and women are sleeping with other people’s partners?

          Hi Lionel,

Those things are done by individual people in the West. But in Islam , it is sometimes okay for a man to kill his daughter or wife; so-called “honour killing.” Only in Islam , a woman needs 4 male witnesses to prove she was raped.

          • 0
            0

            @ Lester.

You have corrupt systems in the West, under which rape is rampant.

When you have so much hatred (of Islam) in your heart, your head inevitably gets filled with BS. Here is the proof:

You said, “in Islam , it is sometimes okay for a man to kill his daughter or wife; so-called “honour killing.”

Produce your evidence! You are hate preaching here. There is no proof for this.

Your said, “a woman needs 4 male witnesses to prove she was raped.”

Nonsense! Four witnesses are necessary for capital punishment to be enforced on adulterers. In the absence of 4 eye witnesses, OTHER milder punishments are enforced.

              0

              Hi Lionel,

You can’t hide the truth on here. Anyone can do a simple Google search and see that honour killings are permitted in Islam. And that in many Islamic nations, 4 male witnesses are needed to prove a woman was raped.

              Hudood Laws In Pakistan

It was General Mohammed Zia ul-Haq who introduced Hudood laws (the Hudood Ordinance) to Pakistan in 1979 in an attempt to win over Islamic political groups who were angry at the secularization of Pakistani society at that time. Amongst other things, Hudood laws require a rape victim to produce 4 witnesses against the rapist, failing which the victim could well be charged for adultery. Syed Munawar Hasan, the Ameer (President) of Jamaat-e-Islam of Pakistan, a hardline Islamist party, was recently interwiewd on national TV on his support for Hudood Law. And what he said angered feminists and human rights groups.

            Leser,

Pakistan is a secular country. The rulers in order to gain legitimacy to their tyranny hide behind sharia.

If you are sincere about learning about Islam, leave ‘sheik’ Google! Pick up the Quran or a book of Hadith. Most who did this with sincerity are now muslims! As for the wicked, they wont be guided!

Senguttuvan, the Muslims have a false notion that this whole world would become Muslim someday. Hence they keep on harping that Islam is the fastest growing Religion. In the days gone by, had I, having challenged these false beliefs, I would be a goner. Not any more. On an earlier occaision there were some Muslims who were not prepared to just accept Islam as it is. They were prone to question Islam in this very forum? This is the true position of society today. I believe the day the society is set free of Religion of these fanatics, will be truely free and emancipated. Then there will be no Blasphemy or the need to kill fellow citizens to cover the nudity of the fanatics. Just live and let live. I see this possiblity if the Muslims living in other societies are made to adhere to Civilised Laws and pressure the Muslim Countries to follow suit. Surely the Arab world can not survive drinking fuel?

Nabil, not only Muslims, Christians too have been violent in the past. Fortunately the Christians are not that rigid today and life seems easy. Therefore Muslims too will have to change from their stand unless earn the wrath of eveyone. However some of the Buddhists too are catching up with the Muslims becoming violent in the name of Buddhism and their days are numbered. As for myself no Religion matters because I consider my conscience as my Religion.

        Gamini

It would be good if you took up a position. Are you for or against organized religion? If you are, do you think Islam is more violent than other religions.

Instead of making a case, you are rambling away like all of you guys did on the Halal issue. Now Halal is gone, but there is no visible benefit to you!

Similarly parroting something that is in your head, such as Islam is violent doesn’t help.

The fact is that Christianity and Islam are no.1 and 2 religions. There are 1.6 BN Muslims in the world if you must know.

No one unleashes violence for violence sake. Violence in any form is despicable. George Bush went to war “in the name of God” and many women and children are getting killed. This is violence by an elected government.

The Taliban are fighting back and that too is violence. When you guys discount the violence of elected governments, and view the world through narrow jaundiced eyes you see only have a limited perspective.

The Middle East Muslims are cursed because of their oil wealth. The West have propped up despots and dictators for more than 50 years so that they can exploit the middle eastern oil.

Here are some examples. Iran had a democratically elected PM in 1956. the British overthrew him, planted a rogue as the shah, an unelected military dictator, protected by the west up until he was deposed by Khomeini.

Iran was a modern and tolerant. Desperate citizens turned to fundamentalists to save their country

The Taliban was created by Pakistan and funded by the US to chase of Russian backed Militia in Afghanistan, later they turned their guns on the US.
It is the same with Egypt. Mubarak was a despicable dictator, amassed massive wealth, yet the US protected him. You saw the Arab spring, but are unwilling to see what drove those people to the streets.

My submission to all armchair experts on Islam is to read up a little before you comment. There are lots of intelligent readers and they can easily spot you guys when you slip up.

Bigotry emanate a kind of nausea that I can do without in here! Lets have intelligent debate. Leave your prejudices at home!

Of course idiotic from your point of view. You are a Muslim NO ?

Judging from how muslims are treating fellow muslims what can non muslims expect from them ??

No freedom loving person wants to live in a suffocating society which wants to kill homosexuals, people who have love affairs outside of marriage, wants to change their religion or questions the validity of their religious teacher’s conduct ??

So i am not as idiotic as you think. Just too smart to blindly follow what some guy who lived in the stone age said perhaps ??

What Lionel defending Nabil ?? I always suspected some weird conspiracy was going on here :).

            More seriously
            1. what’s wrong with letting a homosexual live ??
            2. and what’s so wrong about letting a guy / gal who has a fling outside of marriage live without fear of being killed.
            3. Why shoot school gals or health-workers vaccinating against Polio
            4. Why can’t you make a joke about your religious leader without losing your own head ( Christians and Buddhists don’t mind very much )
            5. Why is it so bad to tear a page from a holy book to parcel some sugar, that you have to be killed.

I am a non believer. And I don’t condone any type of attack on Sri Lankan Muslims who are generally a refined lot ( mostly) but sometimes I feel that anyone (leave aside the BBS) would be scared of a society who looks approvingly on this type of thing ?

Why cant all Muslims be Sufis?

              01. Acorn was banished from performing in Colombo! Why? One of their Music videos had a dance sequence with the Buddha statue in the background

              02. A Swedish woman was arrested for having a tattoo of Buddha on her arm

              03. A Restaurant in Kandy was raided for having a picture of Dalada Maligawa in the ” Garrage”. This is the typical picture postcard type scene of Kandy Lake

              04. Dealer in Pettah hauled up for selling Batik Shirts imprinted with Buddha image

And you call this tolerance? WOW :)

            – Even incest does not carry a death penalty . SO no justification there.

            – The only justification, if ANY, for the death penalty is taking another life.

            – Just trying to explain to some of the Muslims in Sri Lanka who are crying loudly about BBS racism why people view the Islamic way of life with FEAR. I know that Islam is a minor religion in Sri Lanka but having access to news worldwide, people are afraid that if Islam becomes the dominant force they will have to live in Fear. So they oppose anything to do with Islam.

            – News items like the above one in which Christians are being attacked will intensify such fears and that is why Muslims have to take a serious look at their own conduct without always blaming others like the BBS.

            – And I am no fan of the BBS.

              Maa’me,

I didn’t say that incest is punished with death in the USA. I said it is punished with prison sentences.

You are missing the point. The point is different societies have different values. There are certain values which islamic societies will always to try to protect, if necessary, using punitive measures.

As an example i mentioned the issue of incest in America. You have problem with Muslim value of no to homosexuality. Where is your opposition to the AMerican value of no to incest?

            0

            @Nabil

I am neither an atheist nor an agnostic. Those are dogmatic. I am a free thinker.

Those acts of intolerance you have cited as caused by Buddhists ( banning acorn, raiding restaurants, fining buddha tatoos etc., or even preaching anti Islamic or anti Christian sermons in temples etc ) pale in comparison as they do not cause a FEAR OF DEATH which is institutionalised in many Islamic nations.

I generally know what is going on in evangelical churches> I used to listen to Pat Robertson, Rev Gerry Falwell etc a lot. But their sermons are nothing compared to the sermons coming out of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc., which are very virulent and hateful. This creates more fear of Islam among non muslims.

I know also that Sri Lankan muslims are mostly a bit more refined (minority complex? ) but just talk among yourselves about the need to have a more gentle interpretation of some of the sayings from the Koran and the Hadiths which are pretty fearsome to listen to and some of the mullahs say they dont want to change anything.

I think this is what leads to most of the problems muslims are having at present.

              Maa’me,

The US president meets with his killer squads on a regular basis to order the extra judicial killing of American citizens abroad. Those, who are unfortunate to be stuck in America, are extra judicially thrown into dark prisons. Examples of the former include Anwar al Awlaki and his 15 years old son. This is happening in AMerica, but house niggers wouldn’t notice this. For them, the master is always right.

If everyone practices his/her religion in the correct spirit, there would be no need for blasphemy or violence against each other.

I have read that Allah does not like partners associated with him, and a person guilty of that offence would only be punished after his death by being consigned to hell-fire.

Islam is a beacon of peace based fundamentally on one’s submission to the will of God. Any Muslim behaving otherwise is not a Muslim, and the Pakistani mobsters fall in this category.

I would like to know where in the holy Koran, Allah has commanded that apostasy/blasphemy should be punished with death? And by whom? If there is such an edict, one wonders if Allah has taken away the basic nature of free will which was endowed on man in the first place.

Bigoted and narrow interpretation of any religion is wrong and harmful. Bin Laden was a classic case, and Muslims should blame him for initiating world-wide distrust and hatred against Islam consequent to 9/11.

I agree with one of the commentators that there are stupid bigots in all religions. But these idiots are not representative of the majority.

Hence governments have to intervene early to prevent mobs running berserk as happened in Pakistan.

Gamini – Re. your post 13/3 – 9.45 am I suggest you get hold of a copy of the West-Indian born British Nobel Laureate V.S. Naipaul’s Book “Beyond belief – Islamic excursions among the converted peoples (1998)” where he has done a study after visiting 5 non-Arab Muslim countries and tells the readership of the centralised Global Plan to conquer the world by conversion. I still remember the words of a lay Mullah – a former Indonesia Aero-Engineer – who performs the marriage ceremony between an Indonesian Muslim girl working/living in the USA marrying her American Christian boy friend – that she wants to be held in Indonesia in front of her family. Perfectly good. But what is not is what the preacher tells the gathering :-

“today our sister marries a brother from America. He was born a Christian and so born in sin. Today by this ceremony we cleanse him.
Let us remember everyone born in this earth, who is a non-Muslim, is born in sin. It is the duty of all Muslims to cleanse them”

These may not be the exact words for I recall from memory a book I read about a decade ago. But the essence remains and is bothersome. I felt angry and offended then. And more so now. It is in the interest of Muslims all over the world to change their provocative attitude towards those of other faiths.

“Pakistan has for its president a convicted criminal who inherited the presidency from his wife, whom he allegedly killed. He is accorded a red carpet welcome in the USA and is respectably called a leader”

We agree with your facts. Have you read what Dr. Lee Kuan Yew had to say in his memoirs about this double-tongued rogue? But the Pakistani people “chose” him as their President and the US Govt is reluctantly compelled to accept him coming on diplomatic duty. Why, how about that perfidious act of the Pakistani Govt and the powerful army who hid Osama Bin Laden under their nose (certainly for a huge fee – to all concerned) for years at Abbottabad – 600 metres from the high-security Pakistani Military Academy. That is supposed to a responsible and sovereign Govt, eh? How many times does Zardari and his people swear on the book in a theocratic country born to advance “the finer teachings of ….”

      Senguttuvan,

Pakistani people did not choose the criminal. The corrupt democratic system, left behind by the colonialists when they left, manages to bring into power people who will rule Pakistan as American viceroys. Did you ever ask yourself why the criminal, Zardari is acceptable to the Americans, but not Ahmedinejad. The latter is the choice of the people too. But the Americans are not ‘reluctantly accepting’ him.

Pakistani govt. will do the pimping for the Americans. I can cite many examples. But not some of the military guys in the Pak army. It is they who harboured UBL and not the pak govt.

“Why don’t you drop into one of the evangelicals churches? You will be surprised to learn how much of hate mongering that is going on there”
lies this Nabil through his teeth. My man, Geoffrey Archer wrote “even among liars and the dishonourable there is often some integrity” You seem to have either lost all of it or never had the stuff.

Evangelical Churches do not preach hate-mongering. They are more radical and excitable in their teaching of their own Bible. Nothing wrong there. By the way, in case you want to add another title to me, I am not a Christian.

The truth hurts Senguthuvan. Watch Fox News Occasionally. Unfortunately you are getting exposed in this forum, and that irks you.

You have half baked information. Doesn’t mean you are right unless you can disprove me. So don’t whine and whimper, get your facts and then present them.

I am still waiting for your responses to some of the challenges I threw at you.

    Maa’me,

      @ Lionel Malli

You are good at twisting everything to suit your view no :) )

Where did I say incest is OK ?? I said the punishment for incest in free countries is NOT death but jail ( Which is certainly more merciful and humane than death ).

The fact of the matter is that the ‘house niggers on the side of Islam’ are as bad as the ‘house niggers on the side of the west’ ONLY difference being that the ‘house niggers on the side of Islam’ seem to be better at hanging teenage kids from cranes for incest or homosexuality or apostasy or infidelity or whatever, WHEREAS the ‘house niggers on the side of the West’ are only good at giving lethal injections to those who are over 18 and killed people.

      How’s that for comparison ??

      Nice NO ??

      • 0
        0

        Maa’me,

No i did not say you justify incest. (your intellectual capacity seem only as good as senguttuvan’s) I said you are happy with a punishment for incest that is less than capital punishment. What i have demonstrated is that abominations are prevented in all cultures, some times using punitive legal measures. Homosexuality is punished in Muslim world and incest is punished in America.

Secular countries have no permanent moral values. This is unlike in the muslm world. Thus homosexuality is acceptable in America today, and it wasn’t yesterday. Incest is unacceptable for them today, and it may not be tomorrow!

Capital punishment is carried out for certain crimes in both Muslim world and America. If one is killed – how he is killed is immaterial. You seem to believe that lethal injection is somehow more human than hanging. Well, you don’t know. You haven’t asked the dead man.

What makes you a house nigger is you are quick to point fingers at anyone except your master. In front of your ‘massa’, you always say ‘ yessa massa!

U don’t fool a guy like me. I know all about the concept of Takkiya or deception to defend faith.

U ASSUME that I am happy with incest. Where did I say that. So don’t put words in my mouth.I am not easily put off.

1.It is an undeniable FACT that Islam is having problems with Xtians, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Communists …you name it

          2. I was just trying to show you why these non muslims RESENT Islam. Repeating again “they fear the severe attitude Islam adopts against certain misdeeds “

          3. So why are Sinhalese, Burmese , The Serbs, Jews to name a few feel insecure about Islam. Reason # 2 given above.

          4. You come back and say “OH thats how different cultures deal with their problems”. Good.

          5. Good. But then don’t turn back and complain that you are getting attacked, victimized etc.

          6. Because if they consider you a threat to their way of life clashes are inevitable & no amount of talking is gonna stop that.

I don’t know which country you live in. U seem to be thinking this is funny etc just to keep talking about this. But it is not funny for thousands of Muslims who are getting beaten down, killed and maimed around the world ( Israel, Gujarat, Iraq, Russia )and now it is coming to buddhist countries like Burma, Thailand, Sri Lanka etc.

Please take this very seriously. If U wanna keep laughing about this I will be happy to entertain you indefinitely.

You are good at placing red herrings. Loads of them!

Tell me why one cannot engage in incest in America without fear of being thrown into dark prisons. You are complaining vociferously about severe punishments given to homosexuals in the Muslim world. But seem to be quite happy that incest in the US only carries prison sentences which is a lot lighter. Poor incestuous people in America. They are persecuted, no?

              Lionel

              – The problem is not whether Islam is right or wrong. We will never agree on that one I guess.

              – The problem is that non-muslims VIEW the islamic attitude of punishing black magic, infidelity, homosexuality, apostasy or questioning your prophet etc., etc., with DEATH as a EVIL thing.
No other civilized culture does that .

              – Now U can sit & justify Islam all you like, but non-muslims don’t approve of that and FEAR that if Islam takes over their children and grandchildren will be subjected to these kinds of punishments as well as their girls forced to wear hijab etc.

              – So they don’t want you guys around. That’s the REASON they keep fighting Islam all the way. If you are OK with that it’s fine with ME TOO. Keep fighting with everyone like what’s happening in Sri Lanka, Burma etc..

              – and one more thing . Saying “yes sa Massa” to the Arabs is as bad as saying “yes sa Massa ” to the west :)

              Maame,

Following the now famous raping of university girls, the Indians recently wanted the ‘raping tools to be chopped off’. There are a lot of people who like islamic sharia law. Why are these westerners flocking to Islam? About 5200 per year in the UK alone, almost 2/3 of them women? Such glaring statistics are unlikely to cause you to change your hatred of islam. Because your hate filled heart will always prevent your head from absorbing anything other than BS.You are a classic example of why some people hate islam. They are bigots, ignoramuses. They and you can continue the fight the bigots started 14 centuries ago. But you are guranteed nothing but loss!

You are house nigger! As for the Muslims they aren’t! They are free people! The field niggers, as opposed to the house niggers like you, fought against the masters. That is why most muslim countries are free of white colonialism. Some are still fighting!

I think you are worse than the house nigger. Because to start with, the house nigger did not voluntarily take himself to the ‘massa’

You are not adding anything to the discussion. so I call it a day! You can have the last word if you wish to.

              Have a good day!

Man that TEMPER !! And No REPLY button even.

SEE this is why I say U guys can’t stand opposing viewpoints.

Every year 5200 are converting! Divide 5 billion by that & that will take about 1 million years to convert the whole world :) Talk about being HOPEFUL. By the time the whole world converts to Islam the Americans would have reached the ANDROMEDA GALAXY !!

Here is a different statistic. U guys have been around for the last 1400 years and still there are 4 times as many non-muslims as muslims. That is the sad reality.

That joke about saying “yes sa massa to Arabs” got to you didn’t it.

RELAX. I was just returning your compliment. No hard feelings I guess ? :)

              Maame,

If you already cannot see that people in large numbers are flocking to Islam, then i cannot make you see. 5200 in the UK alone!

BTW, who said that Muslims pin their hopes in numbers? I gave that statistics to prove that there hundreds of thousands of people who are open minded. Despite the incessant demonisation of Islam (by house niggers like you, it is still spreading. No one is saying that the world will become 100% muslims. I am not surprised that you cannot see that nuance!

No muslims do not say ‘yessa massa’ to Arabs. We kick them in their ass if and when they do wrong! The Turks kicked them so hard that they under white muslim dominion for many centuries! We are still kicking them in their ass in places like Syria. But you are house nigger. In order to have your ‘massa’s’ approval you would continue to lick his boot. And you seem to be quite good at it!

Lionel the Muslim (there is absolutely nothing wrong in being a Muslim, by the way) says Ahmedinejad is the choice of the Iranian people. The Persians are a cultured, educated and peaceful people among
all in the Islamic world. Their contribution to spiritualism and mysticism wins them many friends in the academic world. Culturally and educationally they are legions ahead of the Arabs. But they are kept prisoner by a rogue regime – and venal Mullah-businessmen – who robbed the last Presidential Elections. Hundreds are killed and thousands have disappeared under the Iranian Iron Curtain. People in Teheran and the main towns live in fear. The illegal Ahmedinajed regime has bankrupted a resourceful country on its Nuclear blackmail adventurism and places the blame on the West,Israel and the sanctions. They only survive threatening Nuclear attacks on Israel and fooling the Iranians that an all-out war is imminent. These excuses are not new to us here in this Island.

Nabil – Challenges from you? I have not seen them. If and whenever I err with “half-baked information” please point them out to me. I am always ready to be corrected and to learn anew.

I am a Muslim who is multilingual! Equally at home with all three languages. I have no use for ruses like you do. When I have a point to make, I make it with conviction because I believe in what I say!

And I restrict my areas of expertise and comment to what I know. Unlike others I am painfully aware of my limits, don’t want to sound like an expert and be exposed for being” pseudo expert”.

If an opinion is expressed which is just, then I would be the first to acknowledge it. If I am wrong I would be equally quick admit to a mistake. At the same time I will defend your right to say your piece.

I am not here to impress anyone as some of you seem to be wanting to do! So get a life.

Correct me if I am wrong. The Torah says; Abraham, the founder of One God is said to have married his own sister, Sara, the daughter of his mother. And the Yahweh said to have blessed them to have children as well. I couldn’t believe it when I first read it. But it is there in the Old Bible. Muslims deny Jesus is God, but had not denied that incest story of their first prophet. That may be the reason why Muslim Lionel is asking ‘What’s wrong with incest’.

        Leela,

The first verse of the Quran is ‘Read’.

I say to you, READ! You haven’t read (with understanding) what i said. I meant that the incestuous minorities in America can complain that the state is persecuting them. Because incest is punished there, like similar crimes in the Muslim world, which your ilk are complaining so bitterly about.

        I say to Leela, read!

It was his half sister if its to correct. In the passages of Torah many personal references were written in bad interpretations is very sad, not only Abraham but Lot, Aaron and David too. In the new testament too Peter was questioned of his faith, and Jesus was referred to have refused to heal thrice. Do we believe, what is ascribed to all of them, certainly no.

So, analyze and take interpretations of this kind to the kinds of interpolation and apocryphal tendencies in the bible.

        Leelamma,

Let’s come to incest practice in modern times which was never raised as a question. The Avanculate marriage between an uncle and a niece .

The partners of an avunculate marriage have the same genetic relationship as half-siblings or a grandparent and grandchild, sharing on average 25% of their genetic material. This is more than that of a first cousin relationship, in which on average the members would share 12.5% of their genetic material, but less than that of full siblings. Avunculate marriages were once frequent among the royal houses of Europe, as Leviticus 18 was not interpreted to explicitly forbid the marriage of a man with the daughter of his sibling; in Catholic countries a papal dispensation could be and often was obtained to allow such a marriage. Avunculate marriage is currently illegal in most Anglophone nations, but is allowed in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, France, and Russia.Avunculate marriage is the preferred type of union among the Awá-Guajá people of eastern Amazonia. It is also a fairly common practice in the southern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

Please note: In Malaysia and Sri Lanka it is practiced among the Tamil Hindus.

    @ Lester.

“Pakistan is a secular country? What a joke! Pakistan is best friends with the Taliban. If the Americans leave Pakistan, it will be overrun by jihadists in a few weeks.”

You don’t understand what you are writing. If Pakistan were best friends with the Taliban, why would she be over run by the Taliban, the jihadists?

If Pakistan were not secular country, but an Islamic country as you say, why would the Islamic taliban would want to take it over.

See! When you have a heart filled hatred, your head can only fill up with BS.

Also, show me why it is wrong for a man of 40 to marry a girl of 9? And why it is not wrong for a man of 40 to marry a woman of 40. But that is too philsophical. NOt for an hate filled ignoramus!

      Hi Lionel,

It is no secret that Pakistan supported when the Taliban when the Taliban was in control of Afghanistan. This is from a Pakistani newspaper, Daily Times:

What a pass Pakistan has reached. In the past, Pakistan supported and recognised the Taliban in Afghanistan and today the same phenomenon is knocking at Pakistan’s door.

Pakistan is an Islamic country. But its government permits the Americans to use Pakistan as a base against the Taliban, in exchange for billions of dollars and free weapons.

There is something very wrong with a 40 year old man marrying a 9 yr old. A yr old does not know anything about intercourse; furthermore, they are not physically developed.

      • 0
        0

        Lester,

Taliban was a legitimate govt of Afghanistan. That is until America outlawed it. Thus Pakistan changed its policies in line with American policies. That is why Pakistan is pimp-like. They are not islamic. She does not have a policy of its own.

Raymond Davis, the US killer, opened fire and killed many muslims in pakistan in broad day light. The “islamic” pakistan sent him safely back to the US.

You do not appreciate that even Muslims are not safe under the Zardari criminal. What makes you to think that Christians will be safe under him?

I think you are the wrong person to debate with why marriage between a 40 yr old and 9 year old can’t be argued to be wrong! So just leave it. I will have it with someone more matured than you are!

        • 0
          0

          Hi Lionel,

I suggest you read Pervez Musharaff’s autobiography, if you don’t think Pakistan is Islamic. There are more radical Islamists in Pakistan than Saudi Arabia and Syria combined. Peshawar is where the jihadists buy their weapons. The ISI still does good business with the Taliban. The Pakistanis knew about Bin-Laden’s location for years, but kept it secret.

Maybe the Government of Pakistan is not Islamic (right now) but everything else is:

          Sharia

The Federal Shariat Court (FSC) is a religious body which rules on whether any particular law is repugnant to the injunctions of Islam… The Court said “the penalty for contempt of the Holy Prophet … is death.”[10][11] The FSC ruled that, if the President did not take action to amend the law before 30 April 1991, then § 295-C would stand amended by its ruling.

I am not sure why you think its okay for grown men to marry small children. Is that a tradition in your family? In most non-Muslim countries, this is considered an act of severe criminality.

          • 0
            0

            Lester,

Your hatred has blinded you to the obvious. You keep arguing that Pak is islamic. Which islmaic country kills muslims and sell their women folk to Americans? The Pak sold Dr. Aafia Siddiqui to America. I will not bother to respond to you any further for i have answered them before.

However, (though it is not relevant here) you can tell us why it is wrong for an 90 year old to be married to a 9 year old. The fact that it is criminalised in most countries does not make it wrong. It only means that most countries punish those committing it. Such criminalisation may be totally unjust. Why is it not that only the 90 year old man is right, and everyone else is wrong – plainly wrong?

              Dear Lionel,

I find it unfortunate that you believe it’s okay for 90 year old men to sleep with 9 yr old girls. I would be interested in knowing whether your mother and sister share similar views. In any case, thank you for sharing your Islamic views about old men and young girls on Colombo Telegraph, so that readers can understand the true meaning of Islam.

One cannot but notice in these pages a miniscule minority in the readership, running berserk as their subtle conspiracies to insidiously take over control over a period of time is exposed. They continue to pour scorn on their multiple names on others for the sin of learning from Cyberspace. Clearly, being somewhat slow in understanding matters, it will take them sometime to realise cyberspace is now the preferred source of information for the world’s intelligentsia. These troglodyte dregs clearly belong to that brilliant school of thought of that hero also known as Booruwansa,
who made a fool of himself not long ago.

Thanks to this fantastic technological advance, one does not have to spend hours reaching libraries and months waiting for other forms of confirmation of specific issues. It is there at your finger tips. But in their inherent and congenital nature, they do not understand this – yet. Sadly, they may not at all and may prefer stone carvings. Perhaps because their bigoted minds are totally occupied and run riot with hatred and revenge – when their weaknesses are pointed out by society at large. But they are learning, the hard way. And now the enforced paadama veers towards insisting on a change in a form of comical dress of recent import. All this was unnecessary if they knew their places and the extent of how much they can influence matters in the country. While the change demanded has some degree of rationale, it should not be overdone to the extent of humiliating those identified with a particular religious preference, despite many irritants and provocation from that side. In the cultural norm of our parts of the world, women should be decently avoiding those features that give rise to arousing the weaker in men. The example of vulgar and scantily semi-dressed women in the “fashionable” countries, calculated to excite sexism, is one that should be avoided like the plague.
