President Sirisena yesterday in his desperation to clamp down on information that was being revealed about his part in Easter Sunday bombings announced, all those who testified before the Parliamentary Select Committee up to date are those who have left service and added hereon he will not allow any officer on active duty to testify before the PSC.

Sirisena’s earlier claim was a balatant lie; not all those who have testified so far are out of service. National Intelligence Chief, Sisira Mendis who testified before the PSC at its inaugural sitting was serving in his position even as Sirisena uttered those words last evening.
Soon after Sirisena uttered that lie during his meeting with the Police Chiefs last evening, he made it a point to clarify his statement noting , “We even removed Sisira Mendis from his position.” Another blatant lie.
Even less than 24 hours into Sirisena’s lie, Mendis has handed in his resignation a short while ago citing health complications.

MS and MR are left with no choice other than resisting and blocking all inquiries , all the way. Remember last year, eventually it took people to come out and protest and eventually SC putting an end. It is time, citizens and activist start looking to other avenues for remedy. I am surprised that MS allowed PSC to go this far, in the first place.Fortunately this much of a spark should be enough for public to realize these criminals are trying to resist and obstruct, the truth from being revealed. So now ball is in the court of public to decide what they want to do with it. Either they can fight back like in last year for justice or else just accept this as karma (which I believe is a popular alternative word in Lanka for denial ). The other options is the courts, which still will need people resistance and pressure to consider. Because MS can come up with excuses like threat to security/sovereignty, interference with on going inquiry, presidential privileges, constitutional loop holes __-etc—etc, to see that, it never reaches the door steps of courts.
