State Minister of Highways Dilan Perera has categorized Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as an ‘enemy’ of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

“The SLFP must join hands and move forward. Ranil is an enemy to us, and we will see his true colours next week when he appoints the new committee members of the UNP,” Perera said while addressing a gathering at Panduwasnuwara on Saturday.
He went on to claim that when the new UNP committee is appointed by Wickremesinghe, Kabir Hashim will lose his position within the party, while Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and Sagala Rathnayake will be appointed to top positions.
“Then there will be a group of UNPers who will lean towards President Maithripala Sirisena,” Perera added, implying of a possibility where certain UNP members might join with Sirisena’s SLFP.
Perera’s anti-Wickremesinghe claims come just days after he reportedly also called Wickremesinghe a rowdy, which has angered the UNP camp, with several UNP ministers expected to meet with President Sirisena next week demanding disciplinary action against Perera for making such a statement.
A source said that no minister from the UNP has made any negative remarks against Sirisena, and hence when there is a coalition government, it was unfair for some SLFP ministers to go around calling the Prime Minister names. “It also shows that they do not respect the Prime Minister, which doesn’t look good on the government, as it is a national government,” the source said.
In February, Perera alleged that most of the country’s politicians including former presidents Mahinda Rajapaksa, Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe were all power hungry. He went on to say that even after being Prime Minister four times, it was obvious Wickremesinghe was not satisfied, which was why he went onto become Prime Minister again last year soon after Sirisena was elected to power.

Relatively speaking, today there is democracy in Sri Lanka. Relative to what? Relative to the previous years of greed and corruption. But, the adjectives employed to glorify the present government is total bunkum.
A national government is when all shades of opinions of the peoples are represented. A coalition government is when two or more parties, work on a joint platform. What we have today is two factions of the same party working for and against a government.
The President, who belongs to that section of the party divided and lending support to the Government, is in fact the architect of this novelty!
His only goal is to see that the sins of Mahinda Rajapaksa do not visit the nation. He is doing an exceptionally good job of it.
