There is a saying you do not kick a man who has fallen. However it is prudent to examine whether Yahapalanaya govt. did any thing to the country or the common man.
They came in to power promising to bring end to corruption, wrong doers to justice, reduce cost of living and establish democracy. Whiter than white! There were 100 promises in 100 days to be delivered and soon they disappear in to oblivion. Rather than ending corruption new level of corruption set in starting with central bank ambush, bond scam and what not.
When RW was sacked democracy loving people fought for his reinstatement, but what did he do during last 12 months! Nothing tangible.

Intelligence failure and dereliction of duties led to death of more than 250 people and many more injured. There was an unimaginable rush to sign MMC compact in the middle of presidential election campaign. RW had been leader of UNP for over a quarter of a century taking UNP down a slippery slope, refusing to give up leadership in spite of losing many elections or allow a successor to develop in to leadership role. He will go down in the history as the leader who ruined one of the major political party and twice failed prime minister to do any service to the country. It is timely now he enjoys his retirement well away from politics.

US puppet Bondscam RW should be removed from the UNP and tried in open court for looting the Central Bank and for pushing the MCC and SOFA with Mangala the Moron.
For all his idiocy Sira saved Lanka from becoming a US military base and unsinkable aircraft carrier of USA and was far more honest than Bond Ranil.
This was to enable the crashed empire and biggest Rouge State in the world that staged the Easter Carnage in Sri Lanka to set up its military bases and servicing hub in Lanka to fight its dirty wars to de-stablize Asia which leads the world today with China as the world No.1 Superpower.

Ranil was instrumental in Sajith scoring only 42% of the public vote. If not for his deliberate undercutting of his own party’s candidate, simply to curry favour with the Rajapakses and retain his position as either party leader and / or opposition leader, the nation could have had a better competition in the big-game stakes just concluded in Sri Lanka. The tacit understanding between the UNP hierarchy and the SLFP/SLPP hierarchy bodes doom for a robust and representative democracy. During the many decades the voters have been kicked from one camp to the other for the benefit of the players rather than for the welfare of the people. Unfortunately, the large majority don’t realise this game. That is not true democracy.

At the start of Yahapalanaya, Ranil gave advance notice to MR about the various financial forensic investigations and gave MR enough time to move over a billion $ in cash from Dubai to Belarus. He also protected MR in a secret pact. In addition of course he is party to other corrupt efforts by Ravi K etc viz. the Bond Scam.

He should resign from the UNP leadership and step aside otherwise Sajith should definitely form a new party as Basil/GR/MR have demonstrated with the SLPP.

Once upon a time Ranil was our great hope. He promised much. Sadly he never lived up to his promises. There will be time for a proper examination of his many years in politics. His immediate challenge is to go as gracefully as he can; leave the UNP to decide its future. If he insists on clogging up the grand old party, his departure when it does inevitably come will sour and bitter. Ranil, for god’s sake GO now!

Ranil disliked Sajithand never treated Sajith as a son of UNP. Whatever good Sajith did to the party was never appreciated nor recognized by RW due to caste differences. RW allowed Sajith to contest under the NDP and not under UNP as RW is the hole and sole of UNP and only RW can contest under the UNP ticket. While pretending to support Sajith, he did the opposite and everyone knew about the “snake in the grass” act of RW.
Sajkith himself should also take the blame for not realizing the way RW treated him and should have formed his own party like what SWRDB did in 1954.
RW thinks he is a leader but never has he been one but a cheater and ends up as the man responsible for fleecing the nation in the BOND SCAM.
His stepping down is a step up to the UNP and the Nation.
