Last evening the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the UN exercising its right of reply said;  The detention on 16th March of Mr. Ruki Fernando and Father Praveen under the PTA were in connection with an investigation into attempts to revive the LTTE by operatives, including the recovery of the arms caché at Vishwamadu and the shooting incident in Dharmapuram involving Gobi. Investigations have revealed that Mr. Fernando and Father Praveen had been in Killinochchi engaging with persons connected to Gobi. Their questioning is continuing at present to ascertain the whereabouts of Gobi and other related operatives.

Thanks for everybody worked for their release.

We all know Ravinatha Aryasinha doesn’t have a face. He wouldn’t have a problem to return to UNHRC meetings. He is just another brainless slave.

I hope Jeayakumari and her daughter will not be forgotten. I dread to think of their fate. Is this government frightened of these two helpless, poor individuals? Shame on the country as a whole, especially the so “called Budhists” and their “supposed to be 2500 year old civilisation”!!

No better time than this to become a celebrity. Wear a guru shirt and carry a camera and a notebook and go to the north. Tell people you are a human rights activist. You will be detained and questioned by the police. You then get your friends to spread the information on social media and bang!!!……You’ll get your 15 minutes of fame. Your heroism and personal sacrifice will be splashed across the world media and you will be an instant celebrity.

What you saying does not happen in mainland China/Tibet.

What I respect in the antisocial Chinese is they are confident that no nation would risk in defending them when attacked.

Anyone trying to revive terrorism in Sri Lanka should not be spared, They should all be sent to Jail.
Mrs Sasitharan should be arrested for referring Sri Lanka as Tamil Eelam in Geneva! She has signed an oath of allegiance to uphold territorial integrity of Sri Lanka, If they have any dignity, They can do their activities without taking a salary from tax payers money.

Burt…One time Human Rights Comedian MaRa, by now should know ”Who is a Human Right Activist” Even Ban Key Moon couldn’t keep his mouth, ears and eyes under the sand to later extend a public apology with a promise of a better performance in the future.

That is Rukshan (Ruki) Fernando and simple great person Fr.Praveen (OMI).

Rajapkses now knows Ruki doesn’t mean a ”Joke” .

Adolf Gota by now should have learnt that…not everyone is Colombo pavement beggar and Companyveethiya Muslim Resident or even poor Vanni Tamil , for him act in his usual lunatic style.

This is just an example…These illiterate war mongers are not far away from their last days.

Burt thanks for your great words.

Ravinatha A parrots lies provided by the government to justify arrests of the two human rights activists Ruki and Fr.Praveen.
Their release was undoubtedly due to international publicity.

The name of the policeman ‘shot at’ by Gobi is unknown, nor the extent of his injuries.
Was there a “Gobi” at all?
How Gopi escaped the cordon of police and army is not explained.
Media not shown the arms cache, nor how/where it was reovered.

Jayakumari and daughter protesting the disappearences of the sons/brothers is considered a crime,by the magistrate who ordered their detention.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, get the mother & daughter released now.

The Rajapakse regime tried a fast one by taking these two under PTA. But it backfired as the international community including UN started to make noise. There should be more noise made by UN and the international community to get the mother and daughter released.

The Regime also tried to show the world that LTTE has started its operation by detecting arms. This is again appears to be a “fix” by the regime.

This smells the same way the underworld guys get killed when they go to show their weapons hiding place to the police.

Too late. The damage has already been done. Clearly the regime has no idea of the issues and way to deal with problems. Riding rough shod and recreating the LTTE in the minds of people may ultimately backfire on the creators. Crying Wolf! Wolf! all the time has its consequences.

I am gad to see that sanity has prevailed in the Rajapaksa ranks.

Well deserved news too, not particularly only because of the two persons involved but of the manner in which almost everyone took principled stands on this. Fine example of what can be achieved if the liberal people work together and have the guts to stand up, forgetting about the accusations of NGOs thrown at them….perhaps Sri Lanka CAN have an active civil society after all?

That’s why we need USA, UK and UN behind us…..to catch the real Gobi…..or the Grease Yaka…..or the White van abductors.

Only they could put a stop to crazy Jokers atrocities.

Sad to say Gankabaraya is copying, acting and playing very old (1950’s) drama, which people and the world has seen, herd, read and now too boring to listen.

Joker should improve his drama and acting skills.

CT should interview both Ruki Fernando and Fr.Praveen to find their side of the story.

I wonder if MR had a deal with USA, UN or UK to release both to get Sri Lanka off from UNHRC resolution

I am pretty sure that all the Rajapakse’s Gobi humbug stories are mere fabricated monumental lies which nobody bothers to believe.

Therefore if CT could interview them and let us know what really happened and what they did for three days under GOLS custody will be helpful.

Without US, UN and UK intervane and pressure, they could have been still languishing in the Jail.

Thanks for everybody who helped for their release.

    Who is the next…………Gobi.

The arrest of Ruki Fernando and Fr. Praveen boomeranged on Gota and GoSL so badly that they had no choice but to release them. Similarly they had to release the abducted Sunil of Wanathamulla due to huge public agitation and demonstration. Every one knows the GoSL police’s cock & bull stories are all made up as always. Their stories of taking prisoners to show the hidden arms or weapons and the prisoner, sometimes even handcuffed, supposed to have shot at the police and subsequently the police had to open fire in self defense and killing that guy and all these every day blah blahs are too familiar to Lankans. Now they are “investigating” these two human right workers’ connection with LTTE and every one believe GoSl story once again.
Let the UNHRC tighten the screws on this unlawful, rowdy rascals of this terror state and teach these bigots a good lesson. Let there be no escape or excuse for this megalomaniacs this time !
Ms. Jeyakumari and her daughter should not be forgotten because they have no one to speak or fight for themselves. They should not be discarded by the people and by the UNHRC. These innocent mother and daughter are kept in detention on trumped up charges. So is the seven months pregnant mother from Trincomalee. Will some organization take care of these cases ?!
What’s going on in this dictatorship, Nazi land ?!!

“The arrest of Ruki Fernando and Fr. Praveen boomeranged on Gota and GoSL so badly that they had no choice but to release them.”

They got everything worked and executed right on target.

The woman and child were the target and to do it without fuss the other 2.

Speaking about it and releasing the 2 that they did not need at all was diplomacy- (see how nice we are after all ;)

They are running a nation with everything at their disposal- US works a coup at Ukraine and calls it the rightful government.

Now our King has done a big mistake by releasing this kind of dangerous Terrorists. In my opinion our brave Police officers should have taken both of them to find out the hidden Arms and close the chapter.

Not the first time right ?

He will go on repeating mistakes that even 10 year old would say – what a president he is.
As many discuss today – his powers are enormous. His abuses also have been beyond all margins.

Victor IWAN, that many cite as to have written a book revolutiozing peoples thoughts, stay today AS IF CLUMP OF CLAY BLOCKED A CROCODILE.

People seem to respect his book even today, but why he stays DEAD SILENT even highly critical stage of the country ?

Not only them. Regime must release all innocent people detained including Jeyakumari and her daughter without any delay. They have the right to express their views without any fear. It is not a right which is handed over to the regime by the people. People have the power. Govt. is an only an instrument created by the people for the people. If they don’t want this govt. means you are done with all your harassment’s. Dont try to create bad experience again.
