Just a day after President Maithripala Sirisena justified the actions of teachers hitting school children, his son Daham Sirisena led mob attacked the security personnel of a prominent Colombo night club named Club Clique in the early hours of today, resulting in one guard being hospitalized.
According to information received by Colombo Telegraph, Daham Sirisena and a relative named Dias, a notorious character from Ganemulla, along with a group of Presidential Security Division Personnel were denied entry to the night club around 2 am today. They had then left and returned with poles and had initially hit one security guard on the head with a flower pot. Thereafter the mob went berserk smashing the glass panes at the entrance to the building. Some of the other night club revelers waiting to enter the night club had also been assaulted by the group.
The Daham Sirisena led mob then forcibly entered the night club and went on to assault a steward.
A close friend of Daham Sirisena’s when contacted by Colombo Telegraph said that the President’s son had denied any involvement regarding the incident. He had said that he would call back with more details but nearly six hours later, prior to publishing, Dahama Sirisena had still not returned the call.
According to a source close to Prime Minister Ranil Wicremesinghe, the Prime Minister’s office had received a classified report early this morning on the incident which indicated the involvement of a high profile person. “Otherwise we do not receive classified reports regarding regular night club brawls” the source said.
The Police confirmed that there was a brawl but refused to provide any further details as the incident is currently under investigation.
Sources close to the club owners confirmed to Colombo Telegraph that police had collected the Close Circuit Television footage of the incident.
The CCTV footage of other cameras in the vicinity had also been collected. However it is still unclear if it was the Sri Lanka Police that had collected those or if it was personnel of the Presidential Security Division that had done so.
Meanwhile the injured security guard’s ward is currently surrounded and closely guarded by PSD officials and no one is permitted to speak to him except the doctors, Colombo General Hospital sources said.
The Derana Television crew was denied permission to enter the premises when they had gone to report the incident. Even the employees of the night club were instructed not to speak to the media by the owners of the club, Colombo Telegraph has reliably learnt.
Daham Sirisena’s history of violence dates back to 2013 when he along with a group of 13 other personnel assaulted DIG Ravi Waidyalankara’s son on the East Coast beach of Pasikuda. Then in March of 2014 the young Sirisena brat had brandished a gun and had threatened UNP Municipal Council member Kris Balthazaar at another Colombo night club named ‘Floor by O’ following the annual Royal Thomian cricket encounter.
Speaking earlier at the ‘Guru Prathibha Pranama Ulela’ teacher commemoration event on Wednesday at the Nelum Pokuna prior to departing for Thailand President Maithripala Sirisena complained that it was even a difficult task for him to have brought up and disciplined his children. ( Janka Ranaweera)

Congratulation Colombo Telegraph. The future of your journalists depends on these type of stories. There are more than these presidential brats and since Mervyn Silva has fallen from grace his son has gone quietly. It is very cowardly to use a gang of people armed and insolent. I* wonder if he is willing to take on the bouncer alone in a fist fight and then settle this like proper ;en. I am sure he wont. Cowards depend on numbers to win anything. Sirisena was just Chandrika’s servant boy and still is.

I hate to agree with you.
However this reminds me of highly decorated Svendra Silva, Kamal, Jegath Dias, Gota …… and their 125,000 troops fighting the 10,000 Bata wearing, rag tag terrorists.
With hindsight don’t you think the Army should have challenged VP and his LTTE for fist fight?

“…and their 125,000 troops fighting the 10,000 Bata wearing, rag tag terrorists.”
Because LTTE didn’t fight in the open, many Tamil civilians died. It’s the same in Syria now, terrorists are hiding in hospitals, schools, etc. Russia is bombing these places and the US is crying about war crimes.

“Because LTTE didn’t fight in the open, many Tamil civilians died.”
Come on, where did the LTTE fight from?
/
Lester / October 11, 2016
Native Vedda:
Most of these civilian casualties came since LTTE used guerilla tactics. Guerilla does not have the strength (numbers) of the regular army, so uses “hit and run” attacks to wear down the enemy instead. Guerilla will also use the environment to their advantage. Mountains, jungles, tunnels, etc. Conventional weapons are difficult for the regular army to use here. Now in Eastern Aleppo (Syria) where the ISIS is, Assad must fight one to one to weed out the buggers. Very difficult. To prevent high casualties, he is trying to starve the rats out of the hole using siege tactics. US and UN are crying about war crimes.

We cannot put the total blame on the brats for their unruly behaviour.
The VIP/VVIP parents interfere too much in their children’s life style.
They interfere with their studies, threatening the teachers with trans
-fers if top marks are not given when they do not fare well in exams , team selections in all kinds of sports, specially in cricket, spoil them by buying them expensive cars & clothing and make them members of expensive clubs, where they want to show off as to who they are (This is ego)and get into brawls, fisticuffs and get involved with foreigners,
bringing disgrace to the country. Why don’t the parents see to the other
side of their children, their education, participation in religious activities and most importantly with whom they are associating with.
In this case of DAHAM, he is around 25 years old and why is he not in a university following a course, locally or abroad. Why is he not follow
-ing apprenticeship in a commercial firm to become a top executive or own the same establishment, if he is not up to the standard to reach a University. This is the fault of the parents who did not monitor and lead him .
The parents ,however rich or powerful they are, should see that their children follow the hard way until they reach the University level and they could let them loose after finishing UNI level as they will be adults by then and its left to them to make or break up their lives but parents should not spoil them in their younger ages so that they do not become school drop outs at early age. There should not be competition among the rich as to whose children get the best facili-
ties but they should see that who gets the best education.
This type of behaviour happens only in political families, as they have power on their hands and their children eventually become political thugs, not in all political families, of course..

What is tragic is that more than half the country placed their trust in Daham’s father – and ALL of US are being let down.
I’m saying this very seriously: Maithri has to get psychiatric treatment for this guy. NOT counselling. A psychiatrist will have to bring the guy under control.
On many occasions now, he’s behaved in an unruly fashion – and shown that he is desperate for recognition etc. Only a psychiatrist will be able to bring him under control with medication – that is to say DRUGS. This is URGENT.
Has to go hand in hand with counselling.
The misdemeanors DO warrant prison sentences, but, ultimately, what we have in this child of Sirisen is a severe psychiatric problem.
I hope somebody close to the family sees this and passes this common-sense comment to Maithri.

Lanka Watch / October 10, 2016
Sinhala-man – I am a Tamil man and your concern is the same as
of mine. Daham is grown up to be an adult and the President as father cannot control him by force, just like any other family. This is an ordinary Buddhist family and the rest of them in the extended family do not show off by driving around in posh cars,
clubbing in the evenings and move around with the elites in Colombo. They even disassociated themselves from President’s
brother because he was a thug, and harassed the public, so it is obvious that Daham got a physical problem. The mother & daughter should convince Daham to see a psychiatrist as he does not have the qualities of a thug has and not involved in any other nefarious activities but certainly has a medical problem. He should first realise that he is a problem to the family and to father’s reputation and then go for a psychiatrist treatment or counselling by a priest or a teacher he respected in his school. All this is required if the story is true and not exaggerated by the media.
There are many families in Sri Lanka who bear the pain of having
such children, silently and carry on with their lives while media
thrives in making stories out of the pain experienced by the parents. The police should ensure that his body guards are firm
with him and the President I am sure will not object to it.

I fully agree with you sinhala_man.This is appear to be kind of a cultural shock.Sometimes person who have power who didn’t get proper recognition in the society try to get it by force.Furthermore in a case like this we have to pay more attention to the person whom he associated who was his mentor in this situation. It is tragic thing what was PSD personal did while all these things happen what if one of the bouncers pulled knife on VVIP son.Needless to say what VIP body guards did all the time why didn’t anybody try to diffuse the situation.Incidentally I have had opportunity to meet while in overseas most violent persons in my life a Ltte black suicide carder who terrorized whole of Colombo for days & escaped after attacking Colombo with weapons wearing suicide jacket&cyanide. In the eyes of the world he is most violent person but in my presence he is like kitten.Unlike suicide carder who is trained weapons & explosives this spoiled brat he needs psychiatric treatment.Hope before this thing goes out of hand he get medical attention. This good for VVIP future & country future.

Where do we stand as citizens in front of a thug like this who has the patronage of power? This is not the first escapade of this kid. I am sure that in a country like Singapore, a man who behaves like this would be found guilty for vandalism and sure to get some painful cuts on his bottom, like Michael Fay. Must we wait for another election to vote his father out just as much as we did for Jarapassa? Where are the principles of much publicised “Yahapalanaya”? Say, if this kid now comes to our house and demand entry into it for something attractive and on denial smash our house, must we suffer in silence? I feel that women in this country are not safe in the presence of a thug like this. If the President does not have the guts to order the Police to book this young hoodlum then the Prime Minister or the Minister of Law must order that. Certainly it is this kind of unsolvable abuse of power is the root cause for say uprisings in 1971 and 1988.

What a disgrace.
See how we behave. Not only does this budding thug Daham but the entire nation in one way or another practice violence and worse still condone such action. Even the president justifies the habit of teachers beating children.
We even have the gall to call this a ‘Sinhala Buddhist’ nation. Instead of calling this a ‘Sinhala Buddhist’ country it will be more appropriate to call it and enshrine it in the constitution as the ‘Sinhala wakutuvenaturu guti-bata deepang’ country’.

It is shocking that the papa Sirisena had not practiced what he has been preaching. Really shocking to see he has such a boisterous son in Daham. Immaterial who he may, but the law should take its turn and no outside interference must be entertained. All civic societies should come forward and air their just recommendations to ensure justice is meted out fair and square, since this VVIP thug Daham has been found guilty on early occasions.

The law should be equal for everyone and in this case no action has been taken against presidents son. This is not good governance. Why didn’t they report this in media? It is for these types of hooliganism that we voted out the Jarapassas and brought this Maithripala for his yahapalanaya, but he does not seem to have any palanaya in is home.

Why is it that the late 90’s onwards the minister’s sons are practicing hooliganism.
Well it is from this era that uneducated and low class people started to get elected to the most important places in the country.
These are people who never enjoyed luxury before.
Now that these uneducated and ones who have been in the lower economy and social class have managed to come and enjoy high living standards, they do not know how to enjoy and behave like true high society men and women.
The genes and blood in them cannot be changes though the money in the hand has changed.
This is the basic cause. (Urata muthupota bandath yannay mada hoyagena).
So these people want to make hay whilst the sun shines ( i’m sure they would not even know the meaning of this phrase).
Prior to 90’s people lost money doing politics. But after 90’s people do politics to get money.
This is the simple answer to your question. Hope you have publish this.

If the army had a fist fight with the ltte, there would not have been a war. It would have been long over 30 years ago.
One soldier in the Sri Lanka army can put down four ltte cowardly attackers. that is a fact.
During the final assault on the cowardly ltte, they had to fight face to face.
Then we all know, it was no fight for the government forces. No fight for the trained elite most Disciplined armed force in the world, Srilanka Army Navy and Airforce.
The STF and Commando regiment would have wiped out the ltte with mere 100 soldiers in a face to face battle.
So my dear Veddayou are correct. It is a shame the looser prabakran was a coward and fought his battle in hiding.
