Situation Report By Lawyers Collective: Tomorrow Is The ‘Black Friday’

By Lawyers Collective –

10th January 2013:  9.00p.m.

Peoples’ March organized by Lawyers’ Collective

(a)   By 7.30a.m (Hulftsdorp – around the Supreme Court premises) the Government had deployed hundreds of goons with placards against the Chief Justice. Among those deployed were Civil Defence Force Officers disguised in civil clothing. Four groups of thugs armed with clubs were also present.  They were given protection by the Military and Police.  (See Video  )

(b)   A group of protestors who were heading to the assembly point were abused and physically prevented from joining the protest and thus  more than a thousand protestors were prevented from joining the main protest march. Several people were assaulted by those goons and among them was a civil society activist Tilak Kariyawasam who had later made a police entry at the Keselwatte Police Station.

(c)    When the protest march led by the lawyers commenced,  two armed groups prevented them from getting on to the street from the main entrance of the Supreme Court. Requests were made to the Senior Police Officers present to clear one side and to disperse the unruly crowds.  However,  the Police were unable to persuade the armed thugs to leave. A physical clash was however averted and the march commenced on an alternate route. Despite heavy rain people turned up in thousands and participated. Among them were approximately a thousand lawyers, leaders of all Opposition political parties and main trade union and civil society leaders.

(d)    There was confirmed information verified by our own sources that there were thugs deployed at 8 places to attack the March heading towards Parliament. The organizers decided on an alternate route through Pettah and Fort. Hundreds of Policemen including the STF blocked the protest march near the Presidential Secretariat, in Fort. The organizers thereafter held a meeting addressed by Lawyers, Politicians, Trade Unionists and Academics. Thereafter the protestors returned to Hulftdorp. When they returned the armed goons and others who had blocked the protestors had dispersed.

2. The Government had transported approximately 2000 persons and placed them in front of the Parliament in support of the impeachment. The debate on the impeachment commenced in Parliament at 1p.m. Several Points of Order that had been raised by the Opposition had been overruled by the Speaker. The debate is continuing.

3. The Lawyers’ Collective decided to declare 11th January 2013,  the day on which the impeachment vote is expected to be taken a Black Friday calling upon people to raise black flags in courts, homes and work places to mark their protest against the illegal impeachment.

Tomorrow, the Sri Lankan legislature will vote on the impeachment of the Chief Justice. Lawyers Collective urges all Members of Parliament not to be a party to an intentional violation of the Constitution of Sri Lanka, by contributing to the impeachment of the Chief Justice.

To me this so-called ‘Lawyers Collective’ is a rubbish spineless body. As many have shown their concerns, this bunch of headless fools have failed to understand how to employ their power to the advantage of the country, the people and themselves and to compel the Rajapakse administration plead with them. Thugs employed by Rajapakse can do nothing had these idiotic lawyers declared indefinite stoppage of work. Judicial Service Officers (judges of MCs and DCs) have already declared their solidarity for any such move. It looks like these people either disoriented or do not genuinely concern about the serious threat faced by the whole nation. Long live BASL.

You are correct lanka they are headless bunch of fools as they gonna be the victims of lawless country that they are trying to make with their foolish acts like this. What they do not know is that they are led by a few cunning politicians who can not come to power on people’s will.

There in nothing left for them to do other than going to work form Monday like cheeps as university dons did couple of months back.

Gentleman, time is running out act unless you act fast to stop this abuse of executive and legislative power by the Rajapakse regime. Be firm and demonstrate the potentially serious threat that you are capable of inflicting on the lawless regime and save the nation from the dictator.

      Jayantha,
      You are an optimist.
The impeachment will happen and this handful of people will be unable to prevent it.
The Military Regime in the north has now come down south.
We will see how the southerners will cope with it.

MARA woodpecker (Kotturuwa) selected the wrong tree. What VP got in Nanthikandal…..MARA will get in colombo.

Also await for another “Parippu drop” this time to Araliya Gaha Mandiraya.

        BOLA PARIPPU FREE TO MARA

In this so-called battle between CJs supporters Vs the Rajapakses my take is the latter will prevail simply because the Sinhalese, by nature, do not have the nerve for extra-ordinary heroic acts. Have you ever heard of a Sinhalese suicide-bomber. When Wijeweera was given a few clouts he simply coughed up the names and hide-outs of all his men. Ranjan W’s men simply hunted them down and wiped them out. They are good to do “dirty operations” as a mob. Individually, they lack what it takes. MR knows that. If things go out of control, he (MR) will get one of Kudu Raja’s gangs to beat up some of the leaders on the CJs side. Within minutes the whole opposition campaign will fall like a pack of cards.

    Lawyers collective,
All this disruptive action by anti government gangs instigated by NGOs and their backers and the black coats is to force the Appeal Court judgement of 358/2012 on the legislature.

Do these fools know that majority of Appeal Court judges (5) have written to the President of the Appeal Court Justice Skandarajah who head the bench that delivered said judgement and accused him for bringing disrepute to the Court of Appeal on bias judgement.

Among other things they wrote that
    1) 1) A Court can ‘request’ Parliament to take some course of action, but cannot issue a writs (order).
    2) 2) A vacation court date was picked to make a hurried judgement is wrong. (The court start hearing the case 1.30 pm finished the hearing 3.30 and delivered the judgement 4.30. Much much faster than PSC)
    3) The usual Bench, Court No 303 that handles all writ applications filed in the year 2010-2013 has been changed.
    4) Justice Jayatilleke who normally sits with Justice Sriskandarajah in Court no 303 has been dropped and Justice Anil Gooneratne who sits in Court No 206 and Justice Salam who sits in the Court that hear DC Final Appeals were selected for this hurried hearing.
    5) Case 358/2012 was not onlt taken up hurriedly but was argued and decided in one day whereas the normal practice is to give a draft judgement for judges opine their views.

I am sure, more details of this bias judgement and more on Haultsdrop coups and conspiracies would come to light in due course when the CJ is fired and locked out of her chambers.

Sri Lanka Police work only if they are given Kappan (Bribes) and hora Kasippu bottles.

I saw to my eyes how in Moratuwa Police station….Police constables all drinking and smelling Kasippu and also behaving fully drunk…three of them while on duty around 6.30 PM.

That’s why they prefer to work as TRAFFIC COPS AS THEY CAN EASILY EARN RUPEES 20,000 IN A DAY.

THE MOST HIGHEST CORRUPTION AND BRIBES ARE TAKING PLAE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

I TELL YOU THE TRUTH …..ON ONE POYA DAY MY FRIEND AND I WENT TO POLICE HEADQUARTERS (Havellock park) AND GOT A BOTTLE OF KASIPPU FROM HIS POLICE FRIEND WHO GAVE IT FROM THE BOX IN HIS ROOM.

So that’s why they are inactive……as without Bribes and Kappan…..they don’t work.

This is the true state of police department.
