ISIS is weak in the countries where it originated and it has been their mode of operation to find weak spots in other countries to attack everything associated with the West, including churches, tourists, etc. There has been a history of many such bombings in Bali/Indonesia, Egypt, etc. by either Al Qaeda or the ISIS. A small island like SL where the president was throwing a temper tantrum and precipitating a constitutional crisis for several weeks, would have been a huge distraction to the police and defense forces, providing a window of opportunity for ISIS to get in.
Of course, various people are bringing up conspiracy theories about the Govt or Gota, but the nature of the crimes here doesn’t fit such theories; a sense of proportion is missing from these claims.

Hela — I did not in fact accuse Buddhists of responsibility for today’s attacks, but decried the fact that such things are taking place in a Buddhist majority country whose main leaders are Buddhist and who do not seem to be particularly concerned. Besides, it was very clear to those who had eyes to see, that a Buddhist monk was leading a protest march in Anuradhapura earlier this month, screaming against minority religions. I am certain investigations have begun. All possible culprits should be considered.
Its strange but the country has been under attack for the last 70 years. The main party that caused such mayhem are the British. Its all engineered but sadly no one sees it that way. Its truly an evil empire with an angelic face.
There are 5 in this group called the “5 eyes”. These are the mainly Anglo Saxon group involving Britain, Canada, USA, Australia and NZ. Its this crew that cause most of the problems around the world.
The USA Navy arrived in 2 ships and conducted exercises out of the blue. Did they leave behind explosives for local handlers to blast things? What could be the motive? I can try to guess but that will appear more strange to most sadly.
I have been pushing the story the Buddha was born in Sri Lanka. The British again are responsible for hiding the truth. They have stripped all important documents from Sri Lanka and also hidden its history.
Why do I need to push this in any way when its Sri Lankans who should be embracing this? All including the President and the PM are silent.
I wont be doing this any longer as I suspect this could be one of the reasons for the blasts.

of all the conspiracy theories, this is the most silliest. if LTTE wanted to go for Gota, they would have gone for him straight. a good number of those killed in these church attacks would have been Tamils. besides, LTTE never went after westerners. even during the war time, there were many western tourists visiting the south. so stop beating the dead snake that is ltte.

The attack on the hotels shows that the target was not only christians, but westerners and tourism.I doubt therefore it is a attack by bhuddhist extremists or gota.Why would they want to damage tourism and attack westerners?Also the well coordinated and professional way it was done shows experience.A foreigner is definitely here training and organising the locals on how to do it.The police should check on all foreigners who have entered the country and not gone back.

“A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama’ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo,” the alert said.
The NTJ is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that was linked last year to the vandalisation of Buddhist statues.

The bomb blasts in Catholic Churches in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, coming in the wake of the fire at the famous Noter-edam church in Paris should be condemned unreservedly by all right thinking people, whatever religion or faith they may follow.
It is the task of the Lankan government to leave no stone unturned to have the culprits who perpetrated this cowardly act escape scot-free.
In my opinion this can only be done with the support of other countries that have face similar onslaughts both in the neighbourhood and away in other parts of the globe.

This is a well coordinated, well planned act probably organised by a well organised and financed outfit. It may be possible to identify the culprits if thoroughly investigated because the attack took place simultaneously in many locations. We must wait till an investigation possibly with the help of foreign organisations is carried out. This must be done as quickly as possible to avoid further incidents. In the meantime it is good to avoid pointing fingers. It is hoped that the government will publish the findings of the investigation. My heartfelt condolences to all affected people including near and dear of the dead, the injured and traumatised people.
Alas this will also affect the economy badly. It was just beginning to turn the corner.
