There is a news items which says that the security sections suspect this to be a suicide attack.
In another it says buses have stopped accepting parcels and the people were also advised to not to bring parcels. Even pilgrims were asked to not to bring parcels if they visit Dalada Maligawa.

I read that article you mentioned. Their research findings do not provide any proof that Sinhalayo came from Indian sub-continent. The similarity in DNA between Demalu in Sinhale and Hindians is clear cut. That is pretty obvious because all the Demalu in Sri Lanka are descendants of Dravidians who came from Hindusthan. The in-depth analysis they have done on Sinhalayo and Hindians show that the similarity is not that clear cut. You missed one of the important conclusions of that research. They say:
“No definite association of the Sinhalese with any specific ethnic or linguistic groups of India was, however, detected in this study; thus, their exact immediate origin on the mainland remains yet to be confirmed.”

There is an undeniable fact. At present there is no other place in the world where Sinhala language is spoken, Sinhala culture, and traditions exist. Sinhale is the only place where there is a well documented history of Sinhala people. All the other Para people you listed have another place in the world where their language is spoken. Therefore, if they want to return it is not difficult for them to get assimilated. But, even if Sinhalayo are willing to leave the Pristine Land of Native Veddah Aethho there is no place inhabited by Sinhalayo to welcome us. Will Modi welcome Sinhalayo to India because Amarasiri says Para-Sinhalayo came from Hindusthan and create a separate State for Sinhalayo?

At this time blaming the Aanduwa is no point. But looking at the coming out pictures, no policeman is prepared anywhere near to deal with bomb blasting incidents. I think India donated ambulance vans might have helped. Ministers luxury Toyota SUVs imported at high exchange rate is not good for this. I don’t know how they have been spending the yearly 10% GDP budget money.
Whether this a terrorist act or usual Lankawe election preparation, this is more than enough for UNP to throw Tamils’ issues in the back burner until they leave the power.

I have no gripe with any one community except to call out, as I see it, the nonsense that is being perpetrated by determined factions in our midst. In my lifetime I have seen events that finally pushed the Tamils to give us the LTTE – result 30 years of mayhem. Deja vu, these last few years, the goading of the Muslims, and, Surprise! Surprise! The birth of several shadowy, under-the-radar Islamic groups that are saying ‘enough is enough’. Through eight decades, I have seen small disparate groups of nationalistic Buddhist groups trying to right perceived ancient ‘wrongs’ instead of building on the future. After 2010, these groups have been emboldened by the defeat of the LTTE, and they have taken centre stage with their divisive claims, followed by acts of sheer impunity, confident that NO Sinhalese-Buddhist politician will ever speak out against them. In recent times, Aluthgama, Beruwela, Digana, Ampara, Kandy, just to name a few. The rule of law was non-existent for those criminal acts. Over the years, several churches have been blatantly attacked – was anybody charged? For the last three weeks, churches in Anuradhapura were attacked and worship disrupted – was anybody charged? And there you have it; the seeds have been sown. Now you tell me, who benefits most from all this? Over the pre-Sinhala-New-year weeks, posters appeared all over calling for the boycott of Muslim owned shops. Was anything done? As you sow, so will you reap.
We are all creatures of circumstance – most of us had no choice in where we born. We have a duty of care to each other. If anybody or group try to usurp our laws, they should be contained. Not shielded by politicians.

Colombo Telegraph should show some wisdom and restrict rumour spreading and conspiracy theories. The kind of comments that has been posted here about govt involvement etc are totally unacceptable. We simply do not know at this point who did this. The govt has imposed curfew and it seems that nobody is going to be able to go outside and travel in cars/vehicles – everything is dead quiet here (just outside Colombo). Cars have stopped going (except for an occasional car/bike) and shops have closed a few hours ago. Now we can only wait patiently and hope that there won’t be anymore bombs. For the love of whatever God you all pray to, please do not spread rumours. Things can get really bad if some crazy nuts start attacking Muslims or Tamils because of the bombs. So please understand the gravity of the situation and do not spread rumours. Rumours have been the cause all riots in this country.

Intentions and the targets of this barbaric terrorist attack is very clear. Despite all attempts by many parties to paint a picture of communal violence, there is no truth in that. These cowards were nor targeting any local community or planning to instigate wide scale communal violence. Targets of these attacks are Christian faith and western individuals (or western interest) and the intentions were to inflict maximum collateral damage. It clears the barbaric cowards behind these attacks are non-other than Islamic extremists. They have chosen this auspicious day of Christians to launch an attack on their faith and to kill as many western/European citizens as possible. Sri Lanka, its communities or economy has nothing to do with it, despite it happened here and killed many Sri Lankans we were not the targets. Local Muslim extremists, funded and aided by some global scale Islamic extremist organizations such as ISIS or similar is behind this. They probably choose SL due to the ease of operation for them to organize such attack here as our intelligent services were made effectively ineffective by the current regime but could have happened anywhere.
