Sunday Leader Censored Emil van der Poorten’s Column

By Colombo Telegraph –

Emil van der Poorten

Sunday Leader decided not to publish Emil van der Poorten‘s today as a result of the Sunday Leader’s new owner Asanga Seneviratne’s order that “nothing is to be published against the First Family.”  Colombo Telegraph learnt that Asanga Seneviratne told the staff that Emil’s column had been dropped because it was “not good enough”. Emil van der Poorten twice received awards from the SLPI/Editor’s Guild for his column.

There is no move to show solidarity like the senior Journalists did in Ceylon Today when its Editor Lalith Alahakoon was sacked. Four senior journos were resigned to show solidarity. Where are the fighters in Sunday Leader?

Sure, they can even walk down naked – they dont mind. No matter general public feel – buggers continue to do so. Following his trip to India, has MR as the country´s president uttered a word about the Major´s being assaulted issue ? NO No.. Today the situation is as if we have no LEADER – in the country.

I believe, coalitions can not stay longer becasue of the fact that they consist of several parties – mean various members with various opinions about same matters. But today the situation is – no matter even everyone is attacked – nobody of cabinet would have guts to come forward and react accordingly ?

Ane habatama ratata giya kala… PRESENT DAY LANKA IS MADE PASSIVE COUNTRY…

Emil must, indeed be honoured by the judgement passed by Asanga Seneviratne on his writing skills!
People like him can say whatever they please in this country, particularly when they provide a valuable “laundering” service to you-know-who! (And find the money to build stadia for clubs and buy newspapers from the same sources)
Perhaps this English scholar would like to file his tax returns for the last couple of years to show where he got his money from?

When the Sunday Leader was bought by Asanga Seneviratne a few months ago, it was denied that the ownership had changed. MR is laundering his money through Asanga, Sachin Vass, Dilith Jayasekara and crowd.

So where is Lasantha’s family in all this? Shouldn’t they try to keep the newspaper at the same standards as when Lasantha was alive? This is really ugly for the Rajapaksa family. They seem openly out to stifle criticism and have committed all the sins possible, to stop dissent. If you think the world is fooled by this, then you are the biggest fools.

The people deserve the Government they get.
So what is the big deal here CT that the Editor was sacked, and this article was censored??

Even CT does not publish articles which he does not like?
You do not LIE about it.

Of course CT creates it’s own articles on “Dirty Fucking”, Journalist, Vaginas, Vaginal cream, Gays and Lesbians….
That Puppy story was highly exaggerated, and unnecessary, although Gota’s language as a public servant was unwarranted and unacceptable…

What was the Editor thinking to even hang on to the Editor’s post until she was bloody sacked? CT damn well knows WTF is going on at Sunday Leader, and who is involved in “DIRTY FUCKING” there, (Journalist) and who is getting the blood money from this transaction.

But chooses to remain as a “SANCTIMONIOUS CAT” innocently watching as if he does not know WTF is happening. lol.

Tell the readers the TRUTH without protecting the “Dirty Fucking” of the journalist and others…

BTW, Asanga would have received the money from the Peoples Bank or Bank of Ceylon as a loan, which comes under the Minister of Finance and Minister of economic Affairs… Too bad…. This is the people’s money which would be repaid with Blood Money and new revenues from government controlled corporations and crony owned companies including Hayleys, Nawaloka, Carlton and others.

Find out soon who is screwing who in this Fucking circus, and the real victims are the 3 children of Lasantha…. There will be more in a new book and documentary sooner than later… (Not Sonali’s story or Frederica’s story… They are the story. lol)…

Ya the shoe is on the other foot.
The hunter has become the hunted.

Water will find it’s own levels. Sunday Leader will sell less newspapers than before.. This is silencing of the opposition, but SL lost credibility long before it was sold….

This should help CT gain market share as there is now one less competitor seeking readers hostile to the Rajapaksas.

On another note, the lack of decorum and use of coarse language detracts from the debate. Less name calling and more logical arguments are needed here. While those who feel they are losing the debate often resort to such low brow tactics, the moderator could set the filter to automatically delete the profanity the vulgar posters like Donald so often use.

SL did not know what hit them since new ownership was hidden (at discussion) from the editor and last minute she try to negotiate editorial charter like a cheap pro and what happened is history now.

Hey [Edited out] and [Edited out] American… I did not use any words which the editor himself uses to his headline news story…

If such news is not published then comments related to such news with profanity will not appear… I respond to dirty comments appropriately.. One cannot sanitize the comments when “Dirties” are commenting…. in a vulgar and dirty manner.

CT will gain market share when there are original stories, but not stories like how CT met a British Teacher in school where her own daughter is googling on “Dirty Fucking” according to the News headlines, or some freaking Buddhist monk attacking a young Sinhala child’s vagina, (Not surprising), some politician being GAY, or Lesbian and Vaginal cream articles… We the readers do not want to read that shit, and besides that I agree with this coward who is hiding behind some bogus names..

Well President Rajapakse is also another bayagullah who did not go to the Olympics and running scared of the UN General assembly where there are 193 heads of state visiting… What a freaking Joke???

So coward is the FBI/CIA filming the absence of State Terrorist?

I’m actually keen to know what LAsantha’s brothers’ position is on all of this. WAs he forced to sell the paper? Was he taken out for a ride in any white-van before the deal was done? ANyone out there has any take on this?

      Holmung:
It’s the usual Sri Lankan story.
      1) The widow and daughter of a slain SLFP politician accept a house from the group responsible for his death and appear on that group’s political platforms
      2) A beaten up Army Major suddenly goes through a process of “memory revision,” forgetting “what happened” and remembering that he had “remembered wrong.”
      3) Now you have the brother of a man who wrote his own obituary naming his killers consorting with….? And the first thing he does is to reduce the reference to his brother’s killing on the front page of his paper and publish junk under the direction of a money-launderer, while deleting its slogan of unbowed and unafraid!
At least the last is appropriate because the Sunday Leader has become yet another piece of (2nd-hand) toilet paper!

The day the Wickrematunge’s joined forces with the Rajapaksa’s was the day Sri Lanka’s small bit of freedom of expression closed down forever.
The Wickrematunges have a lot of explaining to do.
im sure everyone including myself are looking forward to a statment by the W family on what made them sell to the alleged killers???
