The main opposition United National Party’s Parliamentary Group has unanimously decided it will vote against attempts by the Government to legalise Casinos through draft legislation to be presented in Parliament on 24 October, the Party said in a media release yesterday.
The Cabinet has already approved projects to construct integrated complexes that include casinos by Leisure Holdings at D.R. Wijewardane Mawatha and Water Front Properties Private Ltd at Justice Akbar Mawatha and Glennie Street in Colombo, the UNP said.
The Strategic Development Bill No 14 will be presented to Parliament on 24 October to legalise Casinos in the country and set up the legal framework for these casino projects, the UNP said.

UNP voting against the Casino Bill is useless – it needs to split the UPFA and take the JHU and JVP and SLFP Balu Sena supporters to STOP the Bill.

What is wrong with UNP? I think UNP should support Saddarmadveepa Chakrawarhi to legalize Deshapremi casino in Sri Lanka like they support Illegal Impeachment against CJ Dr. SB.
Also, I just can’t understand why only UNP against Deshapremi Casino as Hela Urumaya, Gaanu 5 Naanasara Bebadu Balu Sena, Rawana Balukaya, Sinhala Rawaya, Desha Hithaishee, Jaathi Maamaka Balukayawal and all Deshapremeeyas supports the Deshapremi Casino.

Well there was a concern I hear in ruling circles that the dilution of 13A may have been defeated due to some coalition partners voting against it, so now’s the time for all citizens who do not cherish a land where gambling, pimping and prostitution will only add to the prevailing rash of criminal activity, to pound down the doors of their elected (or crossed over) representatives and demand that this bill be defeated resoundingly and the likes of Mr Packer be shown the exit.
