Former Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara sought a clarification on a story carried by Colombo Telegraph earlier last month concerning misappropriations that have occurred in the Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration.

He has pointed out the CoPA report covered the investigation period between 2005 – 2010 and pointed out that the portfolio was during the time, managed by S B Nawinne and not himself.
CT apologizes for the error. However, when inquired by the former Minister on what has been done to rectify the allegations stated in the CoPA report, he said that since assuming duties in the office as the Minister in 2010, he directed all pending audit inquiries to be answered promptly.
He sent us a detailed response written by then Secretary to the Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration, Malkanthi Wickramasinghe. However, it seems the responses to the concerns expressed by the CoPA have not been accepted. (read the report here)
Although the CoPA Secretary said the investigation period was between 2005 -2009, the report states that the findings and recommendations of the Committee on 48 government institutions are based on the audit paragraphs reported in the Auditor General’s reports during the period of 2005 – 2010.

As some commentators report here – lankens in general have no comparable IQs to see it right makes difficult anyone to get the ground reality of the message that people really bear. Not many would agree with a corruption and abuse free country thought some are into that. How many of them would read articles posted onto CT or other forums – are not even 1% of the lankens I guess. Most of them in the country are busy with Ravaya and other tabloids that animate them.
