The State sponsored Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) threatened to slice Minister Rahuf Hakeem to pieces in response to his statement that the Buddhist extremists group has been given powers that is even above the police in the country. Justice Minister Hakeem speaking at an election rally a few days ago demanded to know who is backing the so called “Bala Senawa” that has threatened to take police powers to itself in order to curtail the liberties of the Muslim community. “It is after 2012 when this Bala Senawa was allowed to carry out their campaign that the troubles for the Muslims started. I ask you who is behind this Bala Senawa. It is after they started their hate campaign that Sri Lanka is facing international scrutiny” Hakeem said. “When I talk of these things as the Justice Minister it hurts some people” he added.

Galagoda Atte Gnanasara, the leader of the BBS responded to Minister Hakeem at a press conference yesterday. “Patta Pathuru Gahanawa me parayawa” said Gnanasara roughly translating to “(we) will slice this bas..rd to absolute pieces.” The BBS is a state sponsored organization which along with the Ravana Balakaya (Ravana’s Brigade) have been mostly responsible for the attacks against minorities. These two organizations have carried out numerous attacks on churches and mosques. Its activists were at the forefront of demanding a ban on Halal certification on food items and on several occasions attempted to de-robe Muslim women dressed in the traditional Burka and Abhaya. Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gotabya Rajapaksa opened a centre in Galle built by the BBS that was claimed to train youth “for the protection of Buddhism.”

In Islam, everything is governed under Quran. Children are taught only Islam, but not even a word about other religions. They are taught and trained to act as killing machines and spread Islam. This is the reason why Islam is very aggressive and Islam itself is terrorism.
When the majority of a country is Islam, they impose Sharia. They justify it as the “divine law of God”. Non-Muslims also need to adhere to sharia, or be punished under sharia. Hey you guys would surely agree with me.
Today when we listen to public speeches being held by Rajapakshe or many in power use a set of old day uncivilized abusive terms. Few decades ago, they were considered as ” not good sinhala”, not polite sinhala for public statments. But since Rajapakshes are in power, they have paved the way all these abusive terms to be familiar with the public. Today, BABA HUKUN; APITA kelawanawa… apita gahanawa, like that are typical Rajapakshe terms but are in use by many.
# last year during my trip to lanka, I was appalled by listening some words that 10 year old use in the country. So these terms have become their day today langauge to this day.
In my days, 3 decades ago, monk was highly regarded in the society, we even gave him the bus seat, we even stood just noticing a monk in our sight… that was the respect I knew towards them. Most of them behave very gentle, so that they deserved to be respected. If their opened their mouth to express things, people had a great respect towards them. Hamuduruwo could be the person to help any violent event to bring back to calm and quiet. They were the poor and common man´s family therapist in terms of most socio psychological disputes. This great work kept the society intact and healthy to a manner it was seen as ” CIVILIZED SOCIETY”.
But today to see thing go all contrary – Hamuduruwos should atleast partly be responsible if not all because of the lawless politics played by rulers.
Listening to this video, I thought, how come the monk in video to be that aggressive ? One should help the society if things go wrong, but how can anyone achieve it by aggressions ? Buddha´s teachings have never guided monks to become violent…

Most of the facts highlighted are correct. I am against any form of racism or religious discrimination. However, Muslims are a peculiar group. They always work for religious motives and moment they capture the power they demolish the existence of other cultures. There are historic evidence for this claim and it is actively happening all over the world. They are actively propagating their numbers which non of the other ethnicities bother to do. They build mosques everywhere and actively spreading their religion.One must hence not assume they are not non threatening innocents as they like to portray to the masses.This is a real growing problem and our future generations, our grand children will have to face the consequences not us. If country become Muslim one day( which eventually will be) the buddist Hindu and Christian cultures will be threatened in a mega scale .Look what has happened in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan . Indonesia . There he has every right to mention the ground reality. I am buddhist, but I am appalled the way this particular BBS acts against fellow men and women. They should not be given priority to represent us the buddhists. I wish any media men could work on an opinion poll so that we could get figures statistically proven how many of us in the current society would ever support BBS monks and their priciples. Halal issue was made by them a huge issue to twist the nation. They themselves advocate that they are born to stand by the poor nation, but nothning like that is their motive. By their violent practises incl. hate mongering speeches, we become clear, they are just an another segments in this poor society that get easily hurt due to some personal grudges against their adversaries. One should give its prioity on thse issues, not just letting them grown to manner JVPers took the weapons in late 80ties. Among very many buddhist monks they just behave so, not having proper means to live up their lives. Perceptions and myths in the society make them frightened to derobe and face the life. We hve to make a society where those men can live their lives as lay men, no need to spread their hatreds being hidden behind the safron robes. If teachers are corrupt what would you expect the students to be? Buddha lived by example and did not commit any act contravening to Vinaya even in secrecy. Well if Emblipitiya Bhikkus grow their own Marijuana what do you expect Embilipitiya people would follow? If Bhikkus keep women in our citadel Anuradhapura and build houses for them and keep families, you need not go any further. If Bhikkus serve liquor to laymen, what example do they show? If sick monks in hospitals have sex with nurses… well the list never ends! Corrupt Bhikkus existed even during Buddha’s time and latter times and they were chased away but that is a thing of the past as the powerful Chief monks in Sri Lanka are the biggest crooks, patronized by corrupt politicians and the rich.
Barack Hussein deserves an Oscar for his performance. The consequences of which the Second Amendment of US Constitution that protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. I don’t want to conspiratorially paranoid here, but these events are just a little too obvious in their pattern of culmination. That is to say, they are getting worse and more shockingly outrageous each time. College/School students get shot up on campus…a few soldiers on base…The loss of human life is tragic, but people can generally write off the slaughter of some people more easily than others. The Ruling class is after all, a bunch of hedonistic, privileged know-it-all who don’t have any real problems who are too brainwashed to imagine they have to worry about being unarmed by their government…the same government which used 9/11 as an excuse to invade and occupy various countries.

You epitomize the ignorance that allows the BBS to function as it does. “Muslims are a peculiar group” pray tell how? Building places of worship and proselytization is unique to Muslims?
While you would like to argue that the BBS is an aberration and not representative of the majority of Buddhists, you are however unable to extend the same argument to Muslims – that there are some nutcases but the majority are no better/worse than the majority of Buddhists.
Why are some Buddhists unable to grasp the basics of what the Buddha taught? Of the 3 poisons (akuśala-mūla) the first is ignorance! Not only the inability to “apprehend the truth but also, a misapprehension of the status of oneself and all other objects. Based on this misapprehension of the status of persons and things, we are drawn into afflictive desire and hatred”.
If you are not a Buddhist please meditate on the above.

Buddhism is recognized as one of the great philosphies.
But to study that you should own the capacity – unfortunatley, this monk and the like would neever be able to reach the levels in this life. They are just men in uniform to animate the like minded ones in the society. The danger that they ve been making efforts to create will be the next set back for the peace initiatives of the nation (if the people´s representatives have any genuine plans go ahead).
These monks could rather help the people by turning them into good today in the country where crimes are on a rise rapidly. These monks should be made busy with such programs rather than anything else, leaving political agends to carry out by politicians.
All in all, I believe, giving more room Monks to react in political entities have driven the country to ruins to this day.
At least future politicians would analyse the problem, and take actions, that will help to save the nation from being escaped from these segments.

I also put the blame on Hakeem, but having listened to JVP Anura Dissanayake lately, I realized that no ministers are given the authorities to function them independently. AD confirmed that all the crucial depts in the ministry of Justice was taken by president himself – he has been taking over over 100 departments/bodies so that ministers have no authority to function as had been the tradition in previous regimes. So, though ministries like Defence, Finance and land are publicly known to be handled by President himself, there are other ministerial dept, like neethipathi dept and the like are taken by him.
