Islam if perfectly interpreted and practiced as the Prophet really did , then The Oil rich guys will loose all thier fun..

Quran if you do not mix with corrupted traditions is honestly, the most democratic way of life , but The traditionalists will never let you do that, because most of them have a lot to gain using the traditions.

There a certain verses n the Quran they add in brackets to suit thier own version when interpreting – but am certain , The one who revealed it is mighty wise and he will preserve it, till a day comes when someone proper will be assigned to take over the entire corrupt Muslim countries around the world , then the true none compulsion Islam will shine again …

What Is Sufism And Why Does Radical Islam Want To Destroy It?
Taken from the writing of Richard Schiffman…..
    http://www.care2.com/…/what-is-sufism-and-why-does-radical-islam-want to destroy it…

    =========================================================

For many in the U.S. Sufism is associated with the ecstatic verse of the 13th century mystic, Jalaluddin Rumi, whose poetry in translation sells more copies than any living American poet. Rumi’s popularity derives in part from the fact that he taught that religion is less a matter of external observance than an intimate personal relationship with God. This undoubtedly appeals to our American ideal of individualism and free-form seeking.

What many contemporary fans of Rumi may not realize is that Sufism in practice is more of a communal affair than a lonely quest. Moreover, the philosophy of Rumi and his fellow Sufis is very much alive today. It has spread to the distant corners of the Islamic world and beyond, and comprises many different orders, each with their own teachings and modes of practice.

Sufism historically was one of the great wellsprings of Islamic philosophy, and deeply influenced luminaries like the great Muslim theologian Abu Hamid al-Ghazali and the thirteenth century mystic thinker, Ibn Arabi. Some have credited Sufism’s open-minded approach to knowledge with the development of Islamic medicine and other sciences in the middle ages.

Sufism’s influence on the literature, music, art and architecture of Islam is also immense, and it was a potent force in many of the political and social reform movements in the 19th century.
While nobody can say with certainty how many Sufis there are, they undoubtedly number in the millions in countries like Iran, Indonesia and Pakistan, and untold hundreds of millions of Moslems take part in Sufi ceremonies and festivals every year.

“In the Islamic world,” according to Seyyed Hossein Nasr, professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University, “Sufism is the most powerful antidote to the religious radicalism called fundamentalism as well as the most important source for responding to the challenges posed by modernism.”

This pervasive influence may be why Sufis have been targets of the fundamentalist, who see their kindler, gentler form of Islam as a standing challenge to their own rigid orthodoxy. Sufi practices, like the famous whirling of the Mevlevi dervishes in Turkey, first practiced by Rumi himself, employ music, dance and spiritual recitation to awaken the God who Sufis say is asleep in the human heart. Nothing could be further from the grim-faced puritanism of the Islamic fundamentalists who accuse the Sufis of being “idolaters” and “pagans.” Sufis reply that they are hearkening back to the roots of Islam, which means “peace.”

I can attest to the power of Sufi practices to provide a glimpse of the “peace which passeth understanding” which is at the core of all religious experience. For several years I attended the weekly zickr of a Turkish Sufi order in New York City. The chanting in Turkish and Arabic was coordinated with our movements and the flow of the breath to create a trance-like state which I found to be both subtler and more powerful and enduring than the drug experiences which I had pursued during college. Equally remarkable was the feeling of deep affection and fellowship which was served up along with the tea and Turkish sweets after the ceremony.

The Sufism that I know, while deeply Islamic in form, is universal in spirit.
    =========================================================
I think often of what our Sheikh, Muzzafer Effendi, told his Turkish followers when they asked him why he didn’t convert more American dervishes to Islam.

“There are more than enough Moslems already,” he replied. “What the world needs is more lovers of God!”

I would love to say this to the extremists who are bombing holy places and attacking Sufi practitioners.

I am now more sympathetic towards the Buddhist in this country ,after watching and hearing this guy , my goodness , they sure sound like a bunch blood thirsty butchers, how can these guys even imagine that they represent the humble , simple Prophet , a poor soul ,

who even when the whole of Arabia fell under his feet , a passing merchant from Vienna had trouble recognizing him from the rest , what he expected to see was a man clad in gold and jewels , while he was shown a simple old man mending his own shoes , it stirs my emotions and fills my eyes with tears…

It is people like this who have turn and twisted the traditions of such an humble man and written myths to suit thier ways , which has tarnished the name of this humble servant of God who is not present to defend himself, but God is sufficient & God will never support these radicals & will they will never have the blessing of God……….

BTW CT Just out of Curiosity ,no offence meant – but how come the Title heading states the following:

Radical defines -:(change or way of doing something is new and very different from the usual way)

Nationalist means :(Devotion to the interests or culture of one’s nation)

Can you kindly clarify – if this is what your heading really means?

When A Muslim screams his head off is portrayed as one demanding for change of the entire culture of the country by destroying it?

But when a group of “Buddhists” with the support of a particular new clergy who is preaching a Philosophy of hate which is not akin to the Great Buddha’s at all goes on rampage against a minority based on hear say & twisted lies they become Nationalist :Devotion to the interests or culture of one’s nation.??????????

I do not know am not a professional Journalist , & I admit neither my Level of English is as superlative as your Professional Journalists , but ,I feel there is some amount of bias with the heading ,if I am correct it would mean ,CT a well respected Journal by right thinking men & women of all walks of life is trying to make fish out of one and flesh of another?

CT – you have won the admiration of all communities and appreciation , if I am wrong pleas explain and I am not too shy to apologise….. but I do not want to be unfair to either my community nor to others- Good respectful Journalism I believe is in treating family & foes alike when passing judgement on whoever commits wrong and especially when it has an impact on the society at large.
    Thank you

Can you point out any wrong in his arguments confronting every issue the Buddhist extremists have raised against the Muslims. It seems you are opposed to the Thawheed Jamath which the speaker belongs to. May be I too do not accept them. But in this instance the speech is not harmful in any way. It only confronts at set of baseless accusations on the Muslims. So should not we welcome it. Some bias against an individual or organization should be close our minds from accepting the validity of authentic views expressed.

I think Stewart you are way out of line, further this is the first time I am hearing of anyone taking over Buckingham Palace and turning it into a mosque, since muslims in fact dont need a mosque to pray. They could pray anywhere as long as they are satisfied that the surface is clean – its the belief that should be strong!

@ Lanka Muslim, UK , how can we side by the very group who has branded all other Muslims as Kufars (None believers),when even God does not call Christians , Jews etc who believe in God and the last day & live a righteous life as None believers, instead God almighty affirms to reward them and even go as far as assuring them no grievance will over come them… then who the hell are these groups to pass such judgement on Muslims?

In the Quran God states clearly not good to mock other people’s faiths or whom they believe as thier God,or Idolize as god, In fact there is a specific verse in the Quran–chapter six verse 108–that says to not mock other people’s deity, or they will in turn mock God out of ignorance.
so it is the Muslim who will be responsible for this action as the other is doing out of (ignorance) because you have insulted his God,,,,

    ===================================

What are you doing to this honorable message ? if you behave like the ones who insults our Prophet & God almighty , you are no different from those who have no respect for others faith ..

Muslim fanatics like Abdur Rafiq, Nabil, Latheef Farook, Safa and many others that crowd these pages must take responsibility if their small community comes into further trouble by an infuriated and threatened majority. They continue to fool others with their trickery of the “most peaceful and fastest growing religion” “superior cultural food and other habits” which is taken rather badly by other communities. Their foul action trying to set up the Sinhalese against the Tamils with the falsehood Israelis armed and trained the LTTE is proved false by other writers here who establish it was the PLO and Arab terrorist organisations thato did this in the late 1970s. It is finding this double game President Rajapakse and his brothers are now
more friendly with the Israelis. It may be true the Israelis have showed the Govt all the dangerous future strategies of the Arabs to
islamicise the whole of Sri Lanka.

In the light of the growing anti-Islam feelings all over the world Arab scholars, invited to speak to the networks in the West, are beginning to question “what is wrong with us” They openly admit most
problems in minority community Muslims in many plural countries in the
world is the false dream of an “immediate Muslim Conquest of the world due to Arab money and the failure of the Western economic system”
It is this madness that has resulted in their total transformation of their personality – dress, food habits, 24×7 talk of Islam, dislike of other communities, other religions, other cultural habits and the increase of Mosques where they are not required.

I have been attacked by Muslim writers for speaking as a Sinhalese. I know they are trying to trace my whereabouts in my hometown. I am not surprised these fanatics also attack one of their own academics
now in Australia, who had raised some innocence questions this week in their own interest. I certainly don’t want Sri Lanka to suffer the fate of Maldives. It is this same fear I think the Burmese and Thai Buddhists are expressing about the politicised Muslims now living in their country as refugees. In Burma, whie pouring in from Muslim Bangladesh only about a decade ago, they are demanding Burmese citizenship.

My opinion is these Muslims who rush into these pages must tone down their aggressive anti-Sinhala rhetoric. Their opportunistic Ministers are not going to resign. The Arabs are now going to come to their help – as they showed in the Nafeeka case. To the Arabs the Lankan Muslims are no more than culturally low domestic servants and drivers. The Arabs are more interested in the quality British, American and Western friends. Muslims have to live with us peacefully and without conspiring to harm us. They have to give up their dream of slicing a part of this country for them. Someone here replies they ask for the
South Eastern Council because they have no other place to go. What a foolish and provocative demand. It is like the story of the thief breaking into your house and after sometime demanding for the deeds for part of the property.

I am sorry I am thick here. But our Muslim friends are making us feel hot. We know some of them are already getting ready to attack (as the Beruwala man is calling) but that will be a bad miscalculation.

      ADJP of Rajagiriya

You are not only thick but obtuse as well. What are you? Another chauvinist who thinks that hegemony of the majority is the answer to all the vexed problems in the country.

What will you have us do? Lay prostrate and allow you to walk all over us? Well when we have people like you, this country doesn’t need enemies.

Despite 65 years since independence what have we to show?

A despicable form of apartheid where we segregate communities according to language and religion.

A constitution that wears its religion on its sleeves

A majority that doesn’t trust the minority and has no tolerance for non Buddhist faiths- Burn and destroy Mosques Churches Kovils

Over 275,000 people killed since 1970 because we don’t know how to resolve issues without resorting to violence

Worst record in terms of rape, incest and other depraved sexual assault

And you blame Muslims for all of this? You don’t even have the courtesy to acknowledge that:

We had nothing to do with the creation, or training of the LTTE. Muslims suffered most in the North and East because Muslims didn’t side with the LTTE.

That Muslims fought alongside Sinhala soldiers Lafir, Muthalif, Nizam etc are some of those since you don’t seem to remember

The Intelligence wing of the army recruited a large number of Muslims because of their ability to speak Tamil and they made an invaluable contribution to the forces

Apart from the contribution to win the war, we pay taxes like everyone else and contribute to the economy. Therefore we have as citizens of this country equal rights as anyone else

As long as that right is not recognized, there will be conflict. If you didn’t learn it after a 30 year war, you will learn nothing

So I would urge you to think carefully about what you write, because if you spread racism, falsehoods, we will write back to place facts as we know it, because just as much as you have the right to say what you want to say, please accept our right to respond.

What is required is mutual respect, acceptance and co-existence where we all work towards betterment of our motherland, irrespective of the religious faiths we profess or the races we belong to.

If you wish to be first among equals this country will never see peace. At no time do we wish to fight you, but we sure shall defend ourselves, and in the process this country will go back another 30 years. Just like it did when the Tamils of this country were deprived of their rights for 30 years. We will suffer, but this is our home as well and we are not prepared to live as second class citizens

We know you are itching for a fight, you are waiting till you find a hot headed foolish young Muslim who will react and then you will have the fight you want on your hands. You will unleash a pogrom like July 83 and then pretend to be the victims.

Didn’t you attack Tamils BECAUSE they killed 13 soldiers?

Is he not responding to the various baseless allegations and attacks on the Muslims and tne inaction of the law enforcement authorities in the country who are not acting against the violence of the BBS etc. When your own religion is under attack in the name of another religion does it become necessary to point out the guidance in the other religion given to respect others. The speaker is doing just that and more Muslims should follow him to confront issues with evidence and authority. When the Bull (BBS) goes on the rampage it has to be taken by its horn.

kk you do seem to be biased – this was a peaceful country trying to get away from the suffering throes of the war – BBS and he mad hatters come in to the breach the peace – who should be banned? who are the trouble mongers? who do not want Sri Lanka and the lankans to prosper? The welfare of the country and its citizens should be given priority not the ego and pride of some few individuals who try to gain wealth and popularity by inciting and kindling fires

  • 0
    0

well I dun remember seeing any upto now,,, There is only one way to live- Muslims and other faiths must remember it is through tolerance and spreading love and peace,,, everyone’s religion is sacred to its followers & it is an extremely sensitive issue to touch, however it is best to sit and have a decent one to one discussion .. this is another ugly approach , wonder if it makes them any different from the ones they are accusing of?

I really feel it is time the government bring about a special law enforcement via the parliament to control such irresponsible speeches for all faiths , in future the government should excise its power to make people more responsible by making it a necessity to obtain prior written permission from the nearest police station before any persons gathering together for religious meetings.-of course applicable to all faiths.. no other way to maintain peace and security in the country ,otherwise the country can not move forward , they need to put the bolts on and tighten the regulation on religious issues.

Can you expect the Govt. to do it when the fact is that the Govt. itself is behind the anti-Muslim campaign to gain more Buddhist support at elections as the Govt. is becoming unpopular on other issues. Beginning from the intrusion of Greasy Yakkas into Muslim area during Ramazan to the now Mosque attacks, Halal and Hijab issues there is Govt. politics involved behind the scene. That has to be exposed.

    @ Lanka Muslim ,UK.
    ———————-
First and foremost you have to be careful when you accuse not just the government but anyone ,you need solid evidence, other wise whatever you may say can be held against you as evidence in a court of law- upto now we really don’t have 100% evidence who is exactly behind creating these issues, with my experience with my own community ,including relatives & the fair weather friends within our own community has thought me a great lesson in life including the study of the past of the fall of muslim empires , the killings of Muslim leaders of receant times etc, has made me stop looking else where and start the search within our boundaries ,most of the time or sometimes all the time, it has been our own community who betrays its own people, there are such ill hearted people among our own , who do not wish anything good to happen to thier own kin, such is the hearts of some of our men, if do a study by yourself you will be shocked to know how each Muslim group is working hard to betray and wreck the other , just like the past history of Muslims, from Medina , mecca, to spain to Ottoman empire to modern day ,you need not look else where , when the enemy is within the community you do not need enemies from out side, they even do not wish spiritual goodness to a fellow Muslim, there are some evil men and women among us if they see a man has decided to change towards spirituality from being living a life away from God, they will ,plot , scheme to stop the man from spiritual progress , you see how egoistic most of our brothers are. they would drive big famous vehicle in show off to go for thier friday prayers and most of the time the vehicle is empty, they will not even offer a lift to a fellow muslim standing on the road to go to the same Mosque, I can humbly state from an old broken down vehicle I first used to the time I had new vehicles, I would always pick up people waiting to catch a bus to go to the mosque and God almighty and people who have associated with me closely will know it, they contribute money lavishly in show off including building of Mosques, not that I am aginst the building of mosques, but our Muslims espcially in Sri Lanka do not know thier priorities , while somany Muslims live in rented homes , in shanties , why even as refugees , thier first duty ( the ones who have extra money than thier needs)is to uplift the poor Muslims , no their only deep hidden agenda is to be show off, so it is God almighty who has exposed such people , which is why we have somuch trouble ,it is shameful, even zakat they do not know how to be donated ,they would give haphazardly in show off , while zakat begins within the relatives and then the others and should always be used to upleft apoor muslim so he can be in apostion to repay that which he recived by way of becoming eligable as a Zakat contributer … and further another issue has been unwanted debates with other religions and trying to prove ours is better and perfect than the others, while there are sommuch short commings within our own community , there is no need to prove to the world how perfect Islam is by word , they should start by action , in every chapter of the Holy Quran God almighty has not left the word prayer without adding charity , so let the Muslims without trying to prove who’s school of thought is correct or wrong ,and detemine who is going to heaven or hell which is a secret only known to God almighty ,(they say when inquired from the Prophet he answered he himself did not know what will come of him after he passes away)- so let us join our forces not to declare jihaad (struggle) on none muslims , but first within ourselves to fight our worst enemy and which God almighty has clearly said he won’t forgive and the most serious Idol worship which is egoism , which was the main reason for Inlis(Lucifer)to stray away from God, being egostic is defintly the worship of the satan.. The Muslims are theier own cause for what we are facing today, this is a wake up call from God almighty , it is time for abrand new start ,,so let us start by first helpping our poor folks , who are in hunger, who can not afford medical care , who are ridden in debts, who are homeless , you will be amazed and shocked if you really go out there sincerely and seach for yourself how many muslims are in deep need , so let us start from offering a lift to muslims waiting in the bus stands on thier way to The Mosques for Jummah payers.. and unite as one community in serving the community in somuch need , this is one of the greatest Islamic duty ..
    Peace be to you.

Muslims earlier said that they are Tamil Muslims then they said they are Sinhala Muslims now Muslim Muslim. However sectarian may be everybody in Sri Lanka put their country first then the religion. Muslims put the religion first and then the country. That is why they are different. What they want is a war between the Tamils and the Sinhalease then all their problems will be solved.

WEll the Thing that is important for all Sri Lankans to understand is there is Defence League not Just in The UK , but almost in all European Countries to promote hate against Islam & They have successfully established a Buddhist defence League in Myanmar all against Islam & Muslims, Under The slogan of 969 , & in Sri Lanka they tried hard , nearly sparked , but with the mercy of God almighty & the long strong Ties of The president with Muslim countries helped our mother land from another bloodshed , we must thank the President in this , our Loyalty should be to The Country & The President, as long as he holds office believe me he will not allow it and he has proved that he will not allow the country to be manipulated ,by some foreign forces to undermine the peace he has brought to this land.
