The leader of Jathika Hela Urumaya and former Megapolis and Western Province Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka has been arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) at 6.30 PM today.
He was arrested over a road accident in 2016. Ranawaka has claimed the arrest was illegal. He has been remanded until tomorrow (19).

Nobody speaks about the erased CCTV footage which could have been the best evidence at courts. Dr. Harsha de silva (the theoretician of the limping Sajith’s camp) behaves like a hooligan. If an MP is accused of any wrongdoing why should law enforcement authorities have to speak to the speaker? Will it reduce the gravity of the crime? I thought Yahapalanaya introduced something called ‘equality among all citizens’.
The best way to handle a case involving a MP is to arrest him/her first, and then inform the speaker (not the other way around). When the time is given, the accused MP calls the IGP, PM, President etc. etc and this is exactly what has happened in the past. Then the accused gets all the evidence including CCTV camera recordings erased, altered, and/or redone in his/her favor.
Who created and established CCD? It is the Yahapalana gang and now they themselves face the outcome!
My personal opinion is that all the cases where a sitting MP is accused of, should be reheard if there is any new evidence and any doubt of witness tampering.

Now I heard that one kilo of onion is Rs. 700!!!!!! Telling people to boycott high priced vegetables and eat cheap vegetables is not a solution but a King Kekille style joke..

“Terminator becoming the Tormentor!”
Terminator ruined the country’s image by hunting a victim who claimed that she was abducted/questioned/tormented by unidentified men.
Government’s assertion that she has fabricated the story has no valid ground as she has acted as any other human beings who had faced such a frightening incident. If I’ve been abducted and released, I wouldn’t go to the Police. I will also hide for fear that they will come back.
The following is the sequence of incidents on the part of the government:-
-The Police-Spokesman said that CID has no involvement in the abduction but an investigation will be conducted.
-Just after that, the government fired the Police-Spokesman.
-Then they denied the incident.
-Then, their supporters announced that it was a drama by the SwissEmbassy and one of its Tamil employees.
-Ganier’s name change as “BOGUS SriyalathaPerera” and connecting her to opponents came next which developed a hatred against her.
-If no such incident had taken place, there is no need for the government to go to that extent.
-Government revealed that IP Nishantha has fled the country on November 24 at 8.30p.m.
The abduction of Garnier has happened the following day, November 25 in the evening.
Any sane person can see that no one is capable of “fabricating such a serious abduction claim with witnesses” within half-a-day!!!!
-The latest is accusing female witnesses, in order to unleash fear among them to keep their mouths shut.
Why I am fighting for Garnier?
It is because “silence in the face of injustice is an encouragement to perpetrators.”
I INSIST the government to “release the VICTIM,-a mother of three children” from remand custody, conduct an impartial investigation and “punish the abductors.”

Accordingly to latest official news reports in the mainstream media, CID has aggressively interrogated Garnier Banister Francis without the support of a lawyer. (A lawyer has been present, but he has not been allowed to intervene.)
After being subjected to interrogation for 4 days, at least 8-10 hrs X 4, if she has fabricated the story, she would have broken down and admitted that So, no such thing has happened. The real truth of the complaint came once the exact location of the abduction was revealed.
The new President and the new government have tarnished the image of the country.
This victim has been remanded while investigations are going on, which I have seen for the last 5 years by the slave government as an (in)famous tactic to suppress the voice of person.
Investigations are going on for what? According to CID, it is to prove that “the victim” is lying. This is a mockery to the justice and rule of law.
I love my country very much and fought relentlessly to save country’s name from this type of bad reputation. This is a disgrace. All the hard work carried out by Sinhalese in the country and abroad to protect Sri Lanka’s name from various unsubstantiated allegations is now in vain.

I do not have sufficient information to comment about this arrest and as I learn more about this I will form an opinion.
But the new government must hasten to use technology to fight terror. They must surveille all the mosques and the over 80% radicalized Lankan Moslems, who are waiting in the wings to launch attacks similar to the Easter Sunday attack. They must get down the most advanced facial recognition technology that China has used with total success against Uighur terrorists. Armed with this technology, local intelligence and a solid database of all Moslem DNA and other biomarkers, the government will be able to sort through the multitude of data and pinpoint the worst among the Moslem Jihadis and start the incarceration, interrogation and elimination of the terrorist. Not a moment must be lost, the time to act is NOW!!

After reading a review by esteemed British art critic, Michael Glover, of the current exhibition at the British Museum, I turned to Colombo Telegraph — to the first topic, the arrest of Champika Ranawaka.
Imagine my surprise (not to say disgust) when Jay Chambers leapt into view, dismissing the subject under discussion & parading his usual diabolical obsession — the elimination, or near-enough, of those of the Islamic faith.
His blood-curdling cries were even more repellant than usual given that I had just emerged from a reminder of some of the great contributions of the Islamic world.
Glover’s review begins:
“Only an oafish fool with malign political proclivities would try to expunge Islam from the story of the betterment of humankind. Think of the contributions that the Arab world has made to philosophy, astronomy, mathematics, geometry, architecture, etc. Where, to cite just one example, would Gothic architecture be without Islam?”
“These are the kinds of thoughts we inevitably carry into a major exhibition entitled Inspired by the East: How the Islamic World Influenced Western Art”, presented by the British Museum, one of the greatest in the world, in collaboration with the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia.”
But Glover is disappointed because so much could have been done to illustrate the exhibition’s avowed purpose , but it this didnt happen.
“An otherwise painstakingly interesting show, though never really much more than that, Inspired by the East promises so much yet delivers, in intellectual terms, so frustratingly little at the very moment when there’s so much crying out to be said in this world of thuggish prejudice and wanton ignorance.”
What a shame the BM failed to take advantage of its position to play a part in “this world”. Nevertheless, perhaps it is something that, despite all the Jay Chambers in this world, there are many who appreciate what the Muslim world has bestowed in civilization.
