Colombo Telegraph learns that Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Chris Nonis, despite resigning from his position last Monday (29) continues to visit the High Commission premises.
Sources claim that he had visited the High Commission last weekend and had accessed his computer and backed-up/deleted files etc. Colombo Telegraph also learns that a key to the High Commission premises is still in his possession and continues to use his official vehicle.
These frequent visits of Dr. Nonis to the High Commission premises has led to the development of an awkward situation among the staff, as they are uncertain of how to engage with him and are also concerned on whether he might have accessed files containing sensitive information from their computers as well.
The Colombo Telegraph has been unable to reach Nonis for comment.
His official Facebook page still says; “Dr. Chris Nonis, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the UK”
The External Affairs Monitoring MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena, who mercilessly assaulted Nonis at a gathering in New York. His resignation letter that was handed over early last week was eventually accepted by the External Affairs Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris on Friday (3) upon instructions by the President who was irritated over Dr. Nonis complaining about the slapping incident to Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, who had in turn prevented Vass from meeting the Pope in Vatican.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner to the Maldives Chanaka H. Talpahewa has been appointed as the chargé d’affaires in the UK High Commission.

It is not ethically right and unfair for Kshenuka to hold that post when there is a very senior and capable officer in Colombo. Mrs Wageeswara should be allowed retire as S/FA.
Kshenuka’s attempt to sell the High Commissioners residence in London with her husband should also be investigated forthwith. W S Prasanna is prepared to produce valuable and credible information on that.

You are absolutely right Peter. Kshenuka is the one who tried her best to sell the High Commisioners premises in UK, & her husband was dealing with LTTE diaspora in UK. That is why we were having all the trouble from UK. Nonis somehow managed to change the scenario,by doing the right thing during his tenure.
She was the one behind, instigating Sajin to attack Dr Nonis. Sajin being a mutt, got caught to her trap, & showed his bloody foolishness & assaulted Dr Nonis.
President by not taking action against this fool, would loose more votes than NOT having him at the Presidential Election.Entire country is condemning Sajin’s act, but yet President didn’t take any action about it.

Peter, you don’t know the correct facts. Have some common sense. As HC Kshenuka cannot sell High Commissioner’s official residence on her own. It was instructed by CKB look for any possibilities and Kshenuka had to follow then President’s instructions.
Rohan says “Nonis somehow managed to change the scenario,by doing the right thing during his tenure”
What actually Nonis did? Did he manage to convince a single British MP to talk in favour of SL? The answer is big “NO” he couldn’t.
Did he counter LTTE propaganda & monitor their activities? No not a single counter propaganda/ activity.
Nonis’s CNN interview is just piss in to ocean of anti SL media campaign. Why didn’t he face any debates and Channel 4? Why did he run away from the back door when C4 came to High commission?

I received the following e-mail titled “WHO IS THIS CHRIS NONOS?” this morning.
Most of the Sri Lankans think and the media reports, Nonis is the best diplomat we ever had, he is educated, highly talented and so on. But the truth is Nonis is the worst HC we ever had in London. We would like to argue with anyone who wants to come up with fact to prove Nonis has done a yeoman service. Read the following; [Edited out]
