The joint opposing is planning to bring in a no confidence motion against Megapolis and Western Province Development Minister Champika Ranawaka against his alleged involvement in an accident which left a youth critically injured.

A spokesman for the Join Opposition said that the police had failed to carry out an impartial investigation over the accident and due to political influence, action has not been taken against Ranawaka. “So, we are planning to bring a no confidence motion against him in Parliament,” he said.

Ranawaka has denied any involvement in the accident which happened early this month in Rajagiriya, but eye witnesses claim that the vehicle which knocked the victim was driven by Ranawaka.

Nationalism and Racism are the last resort of the scoundrel and majority of Sri Lankan politicians who are corrupt and intellectually bankrupt.

Champika Ranawaka is a MEGAlomaniac, who indulges in Sinhala Buddhist nationalist racism to win votes. He is desperate for power and going at high SPEED!

Pathala is also using Chinese money and the Colombo Port City, which will cause financial and environmental DISASTER in Sri Lanka in very short sighted way, to build up his profile among Sinhala masses.

Pathala wants to be the Emperor of Sri Lanka. He is very dangerous and must be held accountable.

      Jim Softy,
It still doesn’t matter. In a vehicular accident even if it is not ones fault he must stop. That is the law and failure to do so is a traffic violation and punishable. On this occasion I think he was guilty (I use the term think) that is why he scarpered. People are not idiots and any one with an unbiased view would agree to a proper investigation.
However calling for a No Confidence Motion by the common opposition is also a case of playing to the gallery. No point and they will not succeed. If there is law and order police and the justice system must be allowed to operate.

You have no right to decide who is at fault. Just like your other comments you are full of gibberish. Your undeterred support for YAHAPALANA team is amazing. Why not join them in the Parliament? RW will be more than happy to get you on board now that he goes against parliamentary democracy and electing even utterly defeated contestants. You can’t do any worse.

        Stop?
Where the Car is Always the Party at Fault!

In Sri Lanka, where the Onlookers go Berserk, without Even assessing the Situation?

    No Confidence Against Ranawaka

Hence, he sought refuge in patriotism only this morning:

    Excerpt

Hands off SL war heroes: Champika

The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) will not allow war heroes to be questioned by the international community under any circumstances as long as the party is a part of the government, Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka said. Minister Ranawaka made these observations at the JHU’s People’s Forum held at Ape Gama in Battaramulla on Saturday.

I am indeed glad that you too have a sense of humour. I am also glad you can be brief and effective.

By the way, where did you pick this up? Was it at the Golf Course?

        Keep it up.

Mr. Champika Ranawaka is a capable and able Minister.

    His calibre is excellent.

Terribly defeated Rajapaksa group is very jealous of Mr. Ranawaka.

    Mr. Ranawaka…..You are the man…..
    Nothing to worry….
Even though they have no confience, PEOPLE HAVE PROFOUND CONFIDENCE IN YOU.

Your colleagues will be there for you.

You are our hero like Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka.

These accusations are mere distractions to cover up sins of the years 2009 – 2014 Dec in particular. Champika Ranawaka will survive the great revival in Sri Lanka over the next few years.

I peronsally believe that naive boy- Gonmanpilla (who can make everything white for their benefit – most abusive by all nature) is on a revenge.
And he may be the man behind the boys. Thse boys are like Ambalangoda Rukada – they have been controlled by those men behind the scene. These rich kids cost lanken people their lives. There should be law against these young chaps if found they are guilty.
Else, I cant know everything could be.. but probablity is much less the good ministers to have driven it by his own. His is one of the most powerful man, would not take risks easily.

This is a ‘test case’ for the regime.

Law enforcement appears to favour a politician against whom witnesses testify to having committed a crime – from which he is trying to extricate himself by hiring a ‘proxy’ to take the blame.

If truth is subverted to favour him, our law enforcement and judicial procedures will become untrustworthy.
This is a serious situation, at a time the government insists that the judiciary are independent enough to judge whether war crimes were committed.
If the motion is brought in parliament, will the government subvert justice by sheer majority ?

Pathala Champika Ranawaka is dangerous and a MEGALOMANIA.

He is vain and desperate for power and is pushing the Mega city, Colombo port city projects in order to get Chinese funds to become Ruler of Lanka. These projects will be a financial and natural disasters for Sri Lanka. The world is having an economic down and financial crisis turn now and it is not the time to be building expensive white elephants with borrowed money.

Pathala wants to be the next Emperor, just like Maihdina Rajapaksa, with Chinese money.

The entire Megapolis project which is really to enable the China funded Colombo Port City which will be another environmental and financial disaster for Sri Lankan people. Pathala is dangerous and a liar.

Thajudeen’s Government’s darling and motor cycle accident victim is the opposition’s darling. But really none do really care of either only to seek political mileage.

This is a police matter and should be dealt with legally.
If the Minister has meddled with the legal process then it is a matter for Parliament to take up.

Rushing into a NC motion is for political point scoring rather than ensuring that the law is enforced and culprits dealt with.

This is typical of our politicians. They do not take responsibility for their actions, they think they can get away with anything, and act like they are above the law.

In this case, it looks like he is passing the buck to someone else. This is why this country cannot progress.
Our politicians always mess things up, just like their miserable lives.

Leaving aside the rights and wrongs of this particular unfortunate case, the burning question is ‘who appointed this man to high office in the first place?’.

The answer is that this man is a mischief-maker and so the cop-out is to ‘keep him close’.

IF we are serious about cleaning out our political stables, Champika is a good one to start with.
