I refer to recent media articles about the Report issued by the Counter Terrorism Bureau of the United States of America. This Report notes that the LTTE’s financial network of support continued to operate throughout 2014, and that 13 of its cadres had been arrested last year in Malaysia.
The fact that the LTTE’s international network and its sympathisers remain active even after the war, has been noted by me on many previous occasions. They remain committed to the LTTE’s cause and constantly seek ways to resume the struggle for a separate state.
Just over one year ago, Intelligence Agencies uncovered a covert LTTE group that was trying to restart violence in the country. Investigations on this group led to a search operation during which three senior LTTE cadres were killed in a shootout. These cadres included a senior intelligence operative of the LTTE and a member of its Air Wing. Their objective was to reorganize the LTTE’s activities in Sri Lanka.
It is disappointing to note that many parties have actively tried to downplay the continued threat posed by the LTTE for various reasons, including political ones. Further, because no major attacks by the LTTE have taken place after 2009, there is a widespread public perception that the LTTE no longer poses a threat to this country. The truth, however, is very different.
It is only because the previous Government maintained utmost vigilance that all attempts by the LTTE to resume violent activities were foiled. While the Government did all it could to ensure the benefits of peace flowed to the people, a very high standard of security was constantly maintained. Intelligence agencies were greatly strengthened, and although a lot of land in the North and East was returned to the public, the military maintained camps in all vital strategic locations. This was essential to prevent the return of the LTTE.
Sadly, I have been informed that the present Government has begun to reduce the number of military camps in the North and East, and has even dismantled some that are in extremely critical locations. This is a development that can have very disturbing consequences in the future by giving the LTTE a strategic advantage if it tries to actively reorganize.
It is my sincere hope that the President and the present Government of Sri Lanka will give utmost consideration to national security, and act with more awareness about this threat. This will be vital if we are to be sure that our nation, which has already been through so much suffering, will never suffer the cruel ravages of war again.

These heinous crimes will increase and will be used as a vital point to demonstrate that the Sri Lankan forces are incapable or unable to protect the people of the North, irrespective of the fact or ignoring that the Yahapalanaye government under the leadership of Sirisena and Ranil have restricted the army to their barracks.
These external forces will then request or demand from Sirisena/Ranil government for the withdrawal of the Sri Lankan forces – the army, navy, airforce and Police from the North. Sirisena and Ranil the puppet government of these external forces will eventually exceed to their demands without consulting the people of Sri Lanka.
It will be the greatest betrayal of the Sinhela Nation by the present Sri Lankan government traitors primarily Sirisena and Ranil inclining to hand over the Sinhela sovereign Nation to the ‘divide and rule’ policy of the colonial powers to please the minority Tamils (British quislings) who have been invading Sri Lanka off and on for many centuries due mainly to the disunity of the Sinhela people divided by religion, politics and jealousy for each other.
Once the united Tamils achieve this first step the next step is to form a Tamil security forces in the North namely Tamil Army, Navy, Airforce and Police. Finally, demanding and achieving land, power and water powers.
Sri Lankans (Sinhalese/Tamils/Muslims) who love your country please UNITE or you will lose everything leaving nothing for yourself, for your children and for the future generations but most importantly you will lose your country.

Recorded history indicate that Devanampiyatissa was a “Hindu” until he was converted by Arahath Mahinda.Dutugemunu’s father and in laws carried names that could be identified as being “Tamil” or “Hindu”.
From that what I could gather is that Sinhala as a language was the result of attempts to spread Buddhism. Which brings us to the conclusion that there was no Sinhala race.
This is proved by the fact that the Sinhala speaking people and the Tamil speaking people worship the same Gods.Kataragama,Ganadeviyo, kali and many others.The Hindus use a different name to identify them eg Ganadeviyo as Pullayar, Kali as Durga.
The Jaffna Hindu used to perform the “Pada Yathra” to Kataragama.My first visit to kataragama was a Pada Yathra of sorts.My parents have told me of the visit to katharagama by carts lasting days and days – call it a Ratha yathra if you want.

Today the Sinhala language had become cosmopolitan, but when I came to Ananda in the early 1950s,the words I used, made the more cosmopolitan students from the Western province laugh.Now I know that there are differences among the Sinhala spoken by the people of Western province, The Southern Province and the Central province.Even in the Southern Province there are differences eg between Galle – Matara and Tissamaharama- Kataragama.This may be applicable to the dialect of Vavuniya and Moneragala – Bintenna Sinhala speaking people.

The sad and continuous misfortune of this island and why it will not progress beyond its current stagnation is the Buddhist Sinhala extremist wing – supported by a politicised Buddhist priesthood and the newer entrance of a highly politicised army hierarchy. Add to this the Navy, Air Force and the Police. There has not been any real democracy in the true sense of the word in the country for decades. It has been rule by the majority with powerful religious interests calling the shots from behind – be it SLFP or UNP lead administrations.
Those politicians and political parties that, in other words, are virulently anti-Tamil will have the support of the 75% majority.
This section is made to feel even the most insignificant of concessions granted to Tamils, in order to get them into the mainstream, will be labelled as selling the interests of the Sinhalese
“to please the demalu and India.” Therefore, those good intentions of people like Maitripala Sirisena, Ranil W, CBK and Mangala S to create a new secular society is unlikely to succeed. There has to be a dent and a division in this pernicious grouping that might give a chance for peace, unity and for the possible emergence of a credible and plural Lankan polity. When Ven. Sobita Thero and JHU’s Ven. Ratanapala boldly broke ranks with the mainstream Sinhala Buddhist clergy, we saw the first signs of a movement away from extremist Sinhala supremacism that has dominated our political landscape since 1956. This resulted in the change on Jan 08.
It is in the further education of the Buddhist Sinhala priesthood in plural politics of give and take that Sri Lanka can hope for a change from the dire straits it is fated to suffer from the 1950s. They, after all, control the political power of this country surreptitiously.
The next General Elections will, once more, be decided on which party plays the anti-Tamil – and the bogey of the Diaspora and of the delusion of the return of the Tiger card – most. These are, after all, the most vulnerable susceptibilities of the Sinhala Electorate in the South that decide the outcome of all major elections. That Gothabaya was quick to catch the imagination of this electorate with his message supports this theory. Remember, the first statement Mahinda R made when he returned to his electorate on Jan 10 was “it was the Tamils who beat me” This finds welcome and fertile ground in the consciousness of the electorate in the deep south which has, by far, remained strongly anti-Tamil from 1952.
But this is not to mean the Tamils have no future. No. The Tamil position is now better understood by relevant players – India, the USA, the UK, the EU, Canada, Australia, Japan, China, S.Africa and most countries.
If Sinhala extremism – in the SLFP, JVP, SLFP alignments – continues to remain unaccommodating, obstinate and unyielding the international community may be forced to create a separate geo-political arrangement for the Tamils of Sri Lanka, possibly, within the next decade. Let it be noted Sri Lanka remaining united or divided is essentially and unequivocally in Sinhala hands – and theirs only.

If push comes to shove and the Tamils get their lands back, this will be denying the Sinhalese nothing. It will merely be the restoration of the Status Quo prior to the arrival of the Portugese(1505) The Sinhala political leadership is shy to admit this undeniable historical reality.
One of the reasons why the Sinhala leadership fears allowing Tamils even internal autonomy is the sheer natural capability of the Tamils. Look at the diaspora. A million escaped injustice and gross discrimination here and went almost empty-handed to the West/Australia in the post-1983 years starting in the lowest levels of society in those countries and in strange environments and hostile weather. Within 2-3 decades, through sheer hard work, labour and enterprise the 2nd generation in the diaspora are now successfully placed in high-income positions. I don’t have to remind you the Rajapakses are dead scared of the diaspora, its economic reach and political clout. PMs of the UK, Canada and Australia have paid tribute to them calling them useful, responsible and exemplary citizens. In many of these countries, Tamils already enjoy positions in local and national legislatures.

Despite the Tamil Nation voting the TNA 2 years ago the NPC denied the resources they are entitled to – on flimsy reasons. Why? The Sinhala political leadership fears if the NPC is on its own – even under an undivided country – they will succeed in securing foreign funding for education initially concentrating in setting up a world class integrated university. This University will turn out graduates in demand overseas in the medical, engineering, IT and other disciplines. USA, UK, EU, Japan, Australia will help the new entity with FDIs and other forms of assistance. They know the inborn capacity of the Tamils for hard work and to deliver on promises. The Sinhala South on the other hand suffers a negative reputation arising from indiscipline. Their leaders have scraped the national till to the bottom. I just heard CBK – a former President – on TV publicly
stating VVIPs of the last regime demanded 50% of the value of
Norachcholai Plant as Commissions, which the Chinese refused. In the same interview CBK claimed this VVIP angrily asked the Chinese “to get out” – something which they took to badly. This is simply one single issue out of hundreds.
Sri Lanka’s all round indiscipline and lack of basic scruples – notably in one single decade – is now well established. It will take us many years to regain our good name. It is not that there are no honest or able Sinhalese. There are – many. The tragedy is the recent dispensation killed every aspect of our once respected system of governance earning a reputation of greedy wholesale crooks.
Another danger that may manifest itself soon – in the event of Tamils getting their internal autonomy – are the Kandyans – who will begin to articulate their dormant fears. It is well known the Kandyans also have received 2nd class treatment under the Rajapakses and, for long, have been restive. It will not be long before the much respected and cultured Kandyans ask for internal rule for themselves. Let us not forget this was the ground reality in the country until the British centralised the country “for administrative convenience” The Kandyans can be expected to claim the Central Province, Sabaragamuwa, most of Uva, Kurunegala and other areas in which they held sway in earlier centuries.

I don’t know why you are surprised that majority populations will always vote for leaders who pander to them. This is universal and is the norm world wide.
However, I always drum separation of religion and governance. No country has progressed where governance is influenced by religion.I hope people of Sri Lanka will realize this soon.
You are wrong to say the Sinhalese are anti-Tamil. There is no reason why a Sinhalese should feel that way. Any animosity towards the Tamils if present would be a consequence of terrorizing people of SL by the Tamil group LTTE for 30 long years. Tamils should not expect to win back the trust of Sinhalese soon. Possibly it might take another generation.
Don’t be despaired by the Tamil’s minority vote in elections. As the Sinhalese are divided equally in most issues, Tamils and Muslims will be deciding the outcome.

Surely you don’t set up a modern army-navy-air force and Police of about 350,000 to dislodge this small number. Those Tamils who ran away to India and other Lankan provinces want to return. But they still feel the situation is not “appropriate” and at any time can deteriorate. The Sri Lankan side under the Rajapakses were in no mood to create the right conditions to bring them back. Why didn’t LTTE Suren , Rev Emma and the British Tiger Forum express this love and care for the inhabitants, willingness to co habit and invest their Diaspora Dollars to give us Milk & Honey.
Previous regime would have given them all that but without any room for the LTTE.
They now can get all that plus more, and bring the Tigers too, in case President Sira changes his mind.
If elected as the Legitimate PM, Ranil’s first task will be to replace all Tri Force Commanders with people like Singapore Mahendran.
And these new appointees will clear the North and the east of all Srilankan Military presence there.
It was clearly stated in unelected Ranil’s statement in the parliament a couple of days ago.

This President , then as a senior minister, his Chief Minder the ex ex President Mrs Kumaratunga’ and the JVP sacked the current unelected PM ,when he gave Mr Prabakaran and the TNA the ISGA , the Self Governing Authority to the North East.
And Sira and CBK are now in Mute Mode ,while the unelected Ranil and his chief Emissary the FM, have openly promised what ever the Diaspora and the TNA alliance want from the UNP Government.
That list although undisclosed to the inhabitants, have more power for the TNA and the Diaspora as evident from the few uttering here and there from the people who are in the know.
For example the PC is now called the Northern Provincial Government by the people who have the clout..
The ex ex President CBK is already on record saying that the N P G needs to be a Federal State.
The question our intelligentsia have failed to address is how far will they go after that.
I mean 1 Million Tamils living overseas have pledged to establish their Eelaam so that no body can touch them ever again.

The West is playing a game. The Sri Lankan politicians are not smart enough to understand it, but carrying on with it for their own benefits. India created the LTTE, but had no intention or resources to carry on for decades. But the West hijacked the war from India and indirectly supported the LTTE through Tamil diaspora. The truth is Sinhalese and Tamils are not smart enough to deal with the powerful and knowledgeable West. The worse is coming to Sri Lanka. Sri Lankans have been fighting since the independence due to lack of knowledge. Not only the politicians, but newspaper editors, university professors, school principals, teachers and employers are in the same boat as the politicians. Therefore, I don’t think the situation will change in the near future.

Those statements are nothing but a political rhetoric to get votes to win the next election. This is far more laughable joke than the previous regime’s political rhetoric “wonder of Asia.” This country has serious issues, but the politicians are throwing useless political rhetoric to keep their positions to create wealth for themselves. I have been in Sri Lanka for the last two months. It is impossible to get a job to use my skills and knowledge. I even applied for a lecturing position at Jaffna University as an accounting lecturer-based on one year contract, but the three positions have been offered to the people who have far lesser exposure in practical knowledge. I have an Australian business degree major in accountancy. I have worked as an accountant in Australia for more than ten years. I have also worked in Canada and New Zealand. I also worked as a business studies lecturer in Malaysia. But it is impossible to to get a job in Sri Lanka. It is very clear, not only the politicians, but employers, university professors, school principals and teachers also destroy this country for their own benefits. Otherwise it is impossible to fight since the independence. I have also done two research papers equal to two PhDs. First Research Paper – What are the stumbling blocks for the Asians? What need to be done to prosper as the world’s majority in Asia as well as in the world? I have chosen the thesis, and the research materials; because the West will never offer this kind of thesis to wake the billions of Asians why they are under the West. Second Research Paper – What made the Western countries so powerful, and what it takes them to keep their power. I have chosen the thesis, and the research materials; because the Western countries will never offer this kind of thesis to tell the world how they have been ruling the world, and how they are indented to carry on. However, I can’t get a job in Sri Lanka, but the Foreign Minister is looking for the other diaspora intellectuals to develop the country. The truth is South Asians’ minds and hearts are darker than their skin color. The leaders must address real issues ASAP, otherwise South Asia will be always behind the West, China, Japan and South East Asian countries.
