Colombo Telegraph is in possession of video evidence of Amith Weerasinghe, leader of the Mahason Balakaya, in conversation with a group including Buddhist monk Galagoda Atte Gnanasara of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), regarding carrying out attacks.
Weerasinghe is shown urging the crowd that ‘this is not the time to attack because we are not ready.’ He has argued that the plan of unnamed opponents was to get everyone arrested. He said that in Ampara there weren’t enough Sinhala people to bail out anyone who might get arrested.
Colombo Telegraph cannot confirm the exact date of this conversation.

Dear Admin,
This message is regarding the youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=ik1qt4z56f4) published by you titled “Gnanasara and Amith plan anti-Muslim attacks in Kandy”.
This incident has taken place in 2016 while going to Madakalapuwa Managalaramaya. Police stopped the vehicles of National Organizations at Welikanda and then people started to walk towards Madakalapuwa. At Punani railway station, all decided to stay night at nearby Pancha Maha Viharaya. It was at the evening Amith Weerasinghe told that there’s an information that the police is planning to diperse the people and it’s better to go back to Kandy without having a problem with the Police.
Video you have published is not relevant to recent violence in Kandy. This video is older than one year. People may mislead by viewing this video by thinking it’s related to the kandy incidents. There’s a posibility of taking legal action against you, in virtue of providing misinformation to the general public to harm the harmony of communities. So, I kindly request you to remove the video by avoiding further devision between the communities. Thank you!
