Reporters on the ground in Aluthghama told Colombo Telegraph a short while ago that fires are still raging in certain business establishments and homes, with evidence of heavy looting by mobs who torched the establishments throughout the night.
Colombo Telegraph learns that Military reinforcements including personnel, trucks and riot fighting gear are currently being sent to Aluthgama.
The looting and subsequent torching, and attacks last night occurred despite the curfew which was imposed at 6.45 PM.
Reports said that attacks were carried till the wee hours of the morning.
An uneasy calm prevails over Aluthgama and Beruwala with the curfew still being imposed.
Unverified reports said that the death toll could increase.
Many Muslims are currently being housed at mosques and Muslim organisations are currently calling for dry rations and medicine for the displaced and wounded.

Interpol has warned local intelligence agencies that the Taliban is operating within Sri Lanka.
Interpol, which is now in touch with Sri Lankan authorities on this matter, is of the belief that the international terrorist organization is using Sri Lanka as an easy transit point to Middle East and other Asian countries.
Intelligence services also believe that some Taliban members have entered the country using forged documents.
They are also believed to be engaged in smuggling and other illegal activities with the cooperation of locals in Colombo and Kattankudy areas.
Taliban is an Islamic fundamentalist military organization which was formed in Afghanistan and later spread its wings to Pakistan and the Middle East.
Meanwhile, speaking to media last month, Terrorism Research Expert Dr. Rohan Gunaratna reiterated that overseas Islamist terror cells are operating in Lanka posing a severe threat to Sri Lanka’s national security.
Commenting on the arrest of Lankan Islamist terror suspect Mohammed Zakir Hussain in Chennai, India, Dr. Gunaratna said Hussain’s associates were still active, jeopardizing the security of entire region that includes Sri Lanka, India and the Maldives.

In india Muzzafernagar violence killed 62 people, mainly muslims while just last month in Assam violence 33 people were killed again majority being Muslims.
This is not to belittle the deaths and the enormous carnage done by BBS. We condemn them and we treat BBS as an equivalent to LTTE.

I totally agree with “elu Kolla”. not only the name of the shop, CT should give the names of the Muslims who did burnt those shops. Actually only you realized that this is a part of an “Muslim Conspiracy” apart from many other Western and Tamil Diaspora conspiracies to destabilize Dharmadveepaya of our Saddarmadveepa Chakrawarthi.
