Daham Sirisena Responds To Nepotism Charge

Daham Sirisena, son of President Maithripala Sirisena, who came in for a lot of flak for accompanying his father to the UN General Assembly although he had no official representative status has posted a ‘rebuttal’ on his Facebook page (where he describes himself as a public figure). The following is the full note posted by the young Sirisena;

Dear friends,

What is nepotism? The real meaning behind it is the abuse of power with influence favoring one’s children, relatives and friends especially by giving them occupations. Open your minds to this definition and take a moment to think whether this is being practiced in Sri Lanka now. Many have been criticizing my visit to the Delegation, saying that it is nepotism and that i am unjustifiably abusing my father’s power. Let me put my friends’ minds at rest, by firstly saying that i was officially invited to the Delegation since my mother couldn’t attend. Secondly by attending the event i got the opportunity to attend the youth-led event of SDG which made me understand the goals which is needed for the country to be more prosperous. How could my attendance be a negative effect to the country? How could my attendance be the downfall of the country? I urge you all not to compare me and my family with the past regiments as we are far different from them.

At the event The officials stated that, next time to bring in more youths with more innovative ideas which could in turn enrich our country by seeing my presence. I believe that this is a great opportunity to give positive recognition to our country.

    what is nepotism, Daham, don’t behave like a baby. Using your fathers power you went to the UN. Aren’t there any better youth in SL to attend the youth congress? do you think you are the most suitable? that’s what Namal also thought. Your fathers brothers appointment to telecom, what is that? You all have started earlier than MR. MRs brothers contributed a lot,

    Regiments as in the military give occupations to youths.
    I combined this non-violent very peaceful young man who never pulled guns on people at Big Matches and who never assaulted sons of DIGs together to make a creative sentence above.

    Regiments, Youths and occupations are all with Daham Sirisena; President of Sri Lanka 2020. If not NEPOTISM putha how did your Baappa or is it Loku Appachchi become head of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission? and how does Hon PM’s close cousin become CEO of Lanka Hospitals replacing Gotabaya?

    Hey Daham sonny, do a PhD in Economics and then you can become the next deputy Foreign Minister.

    He needs to stop calling me ‘Friend’, just because I pay taxes for their trips. I am not his friend. Never even met the guy

    President Sirisena’s recent photo with President Obama was in the company of Michelle Obama. These are accepted practices among the world leaders.

    I personally don’t think there is anything wrong for Daham to accompany his father. There is always some little privilege to their family by their respective departments. If a doctor’s family member falls sick they are entitled to free paying ward facilities and other benefits. Being a President’s son is no different. He is surely entitled so some privilege. Further he was only an accompanying his father, and he behaved himself and did not speak out of turn.

    Daham
    If you are invited instead of your mum, say so and stop.Dont try to hoodwink us by saying you represented youth of Sri Lanka and other bulshit. As you have mentioned, there are plenty of youth in this country with innovative ideas and they should be given the chance to represent country in the official capacity. Not you.
    We kept quiet when Namal was fast tracked to become a bogus lawyer.We also kept quiet when Yoshitha was sent abroad at the expense of a talented sailor for a scholarship in UK with public money.
    Have we ever learnt lessons.I thought your father is much smarter than this.
    Daham we changed the regime because we wanted to change the system and not just individuals. Please understand what we want.
    We don’t want just a face change.If you want to enter politics you are mostly welcomed.But start at the grass root level like any one else.People will take you to the top if you play your game cleverly and honestly. If not the same fate will fall upon you as per your predecessors and we don’t want to see that my friend.

    Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko surprised some onlookers by taking his 11-year-old son to the UN General Assembly in New York.
    Kolya was photographed posing with his father alongside Barack and Michelle Obama at a reception for the summit on Monday.
    But he was not just there for the sandwiches.
    Kolya also joined world leaders in the seats of the general assembly hall as his father addressed delegates from around the world.\\

    Lukashenko is a autocratic pro Russian Dictator. MR visited Belarus probably for deals.

    So if it ok for Lukashenko it is ok for Sirisena.

      @PattiGona
      Obviously, little Kolya was attending the Youth Day summit to find out how Belarus can be developed with Youth Ideas and was also translating English-Russian for his father.
      All OK

    Daham Sirisena you are a sociopathic goon that is abusing the office of the President. You don’t know the meaning of ‘Nepotism” you are a living example of nepotism at highest degree. Shame on you and your father, your extended family are a bunch of crooks, one family member got murdered, that was sad and the President (brother) refused to attend his funeral.

    Daham

    Mr Srisena has a massive task in front him. The last thing he needs is distractions like your visit. Look at Modi he goes without a partner and he does not bring his family members on foreign visits.

    If you learn the humbleness from your father that will go a long way. Rather than excuses honest apology would be better!!
